Overview

This document describes the Meliconi Speedy universal remote control, designed to operate most TV brands. It provides instructions for setup, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Meliconi Speedy is a simplified universal remote control that consolidates the main functions of most TV remote controls. Its primary purpose is to turn the TV on/off, change channels, adjust volume, and select external terminals. The remote can be programmed using either a brand-specific code search or a global search method. Once programmed, it offers multiple ways to turn on the TV and navigate channels.

Key Functions and Buttons:

  • P (Program Up) / P (Program Down): Used to select the next or previous program, or to turn ON the TV. Pressing both simultaneously turns ON the TV on program 1.
  • ** (Power ON/OFF):** Turns OFF the TV and, in some cases, turns ON the TV.
  • AV (Audio/Video Input): Selects an external terminal.
  • + / - (Volume Up / Volume Down): Controls the volume.
  • ** (Mute):** Mutes the TV audio.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Batteries: Requires 2 new AAA/LR03 alkaline batteries.
  • Battery Life: Batteries should be changed once a year.
  • Low Battery Indicator: The light indicator will flash during use when batteries are low.
  • Code Storage: The remote stores the programmed code. If batteries are removed for more than 5 minutes, or if they are flat, the remote may need to be reprogrammed.
  • Code Noting: An adhesive label is provided inside the battery compartment cover to note down the TV code for easy re-programming.

Usage Features:

Programming the Remote Control:

There are two main programming modes:

  1. Brand Search Programming Mode (Method A):

    • Code Identification: Find the 4-sign brand code for your TV in the provided code list (e.g., Thomson - + - +).
    • Initiate Programming: Ensure the TV is ON. Hold down the AV and P keys simultaneously until the light indicator flashes, indicating programming mode.
    • Enter Code: Release the keys and, within 12 seconds, enter the identified 4-sign brand code.
    • Search for OFF Signal: Point the remote at the TV and slowly press and release the P key several times. Stop when the TV turns OFF.
    • Confirm Programming: When the TV is OFF, press the AV and P keys simultaneously. Three flashes indicate successful completion.
    • Programme Selection (if original remote lacks dedicated keys): If your original remote doesn't have program selection keys (e.g., CH+/-, etc.), you can still select programs 0-9. Hold AV and P simultaneously until the light indicator flashes. Release keys and press P 8 times within 12 seconds. Three flashes confirm. Verify program change with P and P keys.
  2. Global Search Remote Control Programming (Method B):

    • Initiate Programming: Ensure the TV is ON. Hold down the AV and P keys simultaneously until the light indicator flashes.
    • Search for OFF Signal: Release the keys, point the remote at the TV, and slowly press and release the P key several times. Stop when the TV turns OFF.
    • Confirm Programming: When the TV is OFF, press the AV and P keys simultaneously. Three flashes indicate successful completion.
    • Programme Selection (if original remote lacks dedicated keys): Similar to Method A, if your original remote lacks dedicated program selection keys, follow the same procedure: hold AV and P simultaneously, release, and press P 8 times within 12 seconds.

Turning ON the TV after Programming:

  • Press P or P.
  • Press P and P simultaneously (sends code for program 1).
  • Press ** (Power ON/OFF)**.

Programmed Code Noting:

After programming, it's recommended to note down the TV code.

  • Hold AV and P simultaneously until the light indicator flashes.
  • Release keys and, within 12 seconds, press P and P simultaneously.
  • Release P and P. Observe the 8 flashes of the LEDs: a long flash indicates '+' and a short flash indicates '-'. Note this sequence on the label in the battery compartment.

Re-programming by Entering Noted Code:

If the remote loses its programming (due to prolonged battery absence or flat batteries):

  • Hold AV and P simultaneously until the light indicator flashes.
  • Release keys and, within 12 seconds, use the P and P keys to enter the eight-sign code previously noted. Three flashes confirm successful saving.

Troubleshooting:

  • TV not responding, light indicator not lighting up: Check battery fitting; replace with new 1.5V AAA/LR03 alkaline batteries if necessary.
  • TV not responding, light indicator lights up: Check batteries are new, ensure remote is pointed at the appliance without obstacles. Reset code using programming procedure A or B.
  • TV not responding, light indicator flashes: Batteries are low; replace them.
  • Not all commands working correctly: Incorrect code may have been used. Reset code using programming procedure A or B.
  • TV brand code not in list: Use global search programming procedure B.
  • P and P keys not selecting programs: Original remote may not have had this function. Set the code by pressing P 8 times as described in paragraphs A or B.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: Change batteries once a year or when the light indicator flashes during use.
  • Code Backup: Note the TV code on the provided label inside the battery compartment cover to facilitate re-programming.
  • Battery Removal: When removing batteries, insert new ones within 5 minutes to avoid losing programming.

Warranty:

The product comes with a 2-year warranty. The warranty is void if the product is tampered with or used incorrectly.
