IMPORTANT: The use of detergent oils, multi‑viscosity oils (other
than Mercury or Quicksilver NMMA FC‑W certified oil or a major
brand NMMA FC‑W certified oil), synthetic oils, low quality or oils
that contain solid additives are not recommended.

Recommended SAE Viscosity for Engine Oil
a - NMMA FC‑W certified 25W‑40 4‑stroke outboard oil may
be used at temperatures above 4 °C (40 °F)
b - NMMA FC‑W certified 10W‑30 4‑stroke outboard oil is
recommended for use in all temperatures.
Checking And Adding Engine Oil
IMPORTANT: Do not overfill. Be sure that the outboard is upright
(not tilted) when checking oil.
1. Turn the engine off. Have the outboard in a level operating
position. Remove the top cowl.
2. Pull out the dipstick. Wipe it with a clean rag or towel and push
it back in all the way.
