the emission controls to continue to function effectively, it is strongly
recommended

you arrange for regular maintenance inspections to be carried

or by any

outlet which regularly performs such service on British Leyland
car
s.
You
have been provided with a Passport to Service which contains a facility to
record
that
maintenance has been carried
out
at the recommended mileages.
You
should have the ma intenance record completed by

autho
rized Austin
MG
Dealer
(or by
othe
r dealer or station
equipped
to render such service) at
the regular mileage intervals indicated in the Schedule. The
Handboo
k
and
Passport
to Service should be
handed
to subsequent purchasers of the vehicle
at the time of sale so
that
the maintenance instructions are available and
that
the record of maintenance can be continued .

are also urged to study with care the section covering
'MALFUNC
TIO N
IDENTIFICATION'.
Stud

possible malfunctions of the emission controls so tha t necessary service measures
can immediately be

IMPORTANT
Your attention is particularly drawn to the following:
1. Maintenance
and
service charges applicable to the emission control system
are
not covered by the w
arr
anty and are not reimbursable, unless shown to have
been caused by defects in material and workmanship covered by the warranty.
2.
The
engine has been designed for the re zular use of unleaded fuel. Le
aded
fuel or low lead fuel must not be used a such fuels will seriously impair
the efficiency of the emission co ntrol system and cause
permanent
damage to
the catalytic converter.
