Usage Features

SIM Card Installation: The device requires a Nano SIM card compatible with a 2G GSM network. Before installation, ensure the SIM card has SMS, call, and internet data traffic enabled, caller ID display feature is active, and any PIN code is removed. It's crucial to obtain the correct APN information from the SIM card provider. The installation process involves opening the device, inserting the Nano SIM card correctly, and then closing it.

Wiring: The MV720 connects to the car battery (9-90V DC) and includes a fuel pump line (5V-30V, <60A). It's important to connect the tracker to an external power supply of no less than 12V for proper operation after SIM card installation.

APN Configuration: To get the tracker online, the correct APN (Access Point Name) must be configured. This is done by sending SMS commands to the tracker from the admin number.

  • apn123456+space+apn name: Sets the APN name.
  • apnuser123456+space+apnuser: Sets the APN user name (if applicable).
  • apnpasswd123456+space+apnpassword: Sets the APN password (if applicable). Incorrect APN settings will prevent the tracker from getting online, even if it replies "SET APN ok".

Indicator Status Description:

  • GSM LED (GREEN):
    • Solid: Searching for network.
    • Flash every 1 second: Network has been registered.
  • GPS LED (Blue):
    • Solid: GPS is in fixing.
    • Flash every 1 second: GPS has fixed.
  • ALL LED:
    • TURN OFF: Device is working but stopped more than 5 minutes, device has not been turned on, or device ran out of battery.

Vibration Alert: This feature works when the device is stationary.

  1. Set an admin number: admin123456+space+mobile number with country code.
  2. Enable arm mode: Send 111 from the admin number.
  3. Configure alarm ways: vibalm123456 (e.g., for vibrate SMS alarm). The device needs to be stationary for more than 5 minutes to enter sleep arm mode. Once vibrated, it will send alarm messages.

Cut Off Fuel/Resume Fuel: This critical security function allows remote control of the vehicle's fuel supply.

  1. Set an admin number: admin123456+space+mobile number with country code.
  2. To cut off fuel: Send 555 from the admin number.
  3. To resume fuel: Send 666 from the admin number. Important Notes on Fuel Cut-off:
  • Ensure the fuel circuit is connected to the main power.
  • If both network and satellite signals are available and speed exceeds 20km/h, fuel cut-off will be intermittent until speed drops below 20km/h, then it will be complete.
  • If only network signal is available (no satellite signal), fuel cut-off will be intermittent for 2-3 minutes, then complete.
  • If the tracker has been stopped for more than 5 minutes, fuel cut-off is immediate. If the tracker is vibrated, fuel cut-off is also immediate.

Installation Recommendation: For optimal performance, the device should be installed with its top side facing upwards towards the sky, free from metallic shielding. Common installation locations include under the front dash, inside the door pedal, inside the taillight component or plastic, under the pedal, inside the headlight, or inside the front cover. Metal thermal barriers or heating layers of the windshield can affect the GPS signal.

Maintenance Features

Troubleshooting:

  • Unable to connect to tracking platform: Check APN settings, data service of SIM card, and SIM card balance.
  • Tracker shows offline: Verify external power connection, check if the vehicle is in a network blind area, and confirm SIM card balance.
  • Unable to locate: Ensure the top side faces upward without metallic shielding and that the device is not in an area without satellite coverage.
  • Location drift: May occur in areas with poor GNSS signal (e.g., tall buildings, basements) or if vibration triggers the accelerator.
  • No command reply: Check command format, vehicle location (network blind area), and ensure SIM card is properly inserted and has SMS service.

Sleep Mode: The device can enter sleep mode to conserve power.

  • sleep123456 time: Device enters sleep mode automatically after 5 minutes of stationary status. SMS commands and calls can wake it up.
  • sleep123456 shock: Device enters sleep mode automatically after 5 minutes of stationary status. Vibration, SMS commands, and calls can wake it up.
  • sleep123456 off: Cancels sleep mode.

Tow Alarm: Configurable via towA,B command. 'A' specifies the alarm type (1: SMS, 2: Call, 3: SMS+Call, 4: Platform alarm), and 'B' sets the distance (500-10000m).

Parameter Query:

  • param1: Queries firmware version, ID, IP, port, domain, and APN.
  • param2: Queries admin number, SOS number, move distance, overspeed, auto arm time, auto disarm time, and alarm interval.
  • status: Queries battery level, GPRS status, GSM signal, GPS status, ACC status, oil status, and power status.
