Overview

This document describes the Midea 24-inch ADA Standard Built-in Dishwasher, models M24DB9373HSS, M24DB9373HBB, and M24DB9373HWW. It functions as a household appliance designed to clean dishes, offering a range of features for efficient and convenient operation.

Function Description

The dishwasher is designed to wash and dry dishes using various programs and settings. It incorporates a filtering system to prevent food particles from redepositing on dishes and a rinse aid dispenser to improve drying and prevent spots. The appliance is built for integration into kitchen cabinetry, adhering to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards, which typically means a lower height for easier access.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Dimensions: The dishwasher is a 24-inch model, designed for built-in installation. Cabinet dimensions require less than 5mm between the top of the dishwasher and the cabinet, with the outer door aligned to the cabinet. The minimum space when the door is opened is 50mm.
  • Electrical Requirements: It operates on an individual 120VAC, 60Hz electrical supply. A 16-amp fuse is required, with copper wire only. A time delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended, and a separate circuit should serve only this appliance.
  • Water Temperature: The inlet water temperature should be 120°F (49°C). If the inlet water temperature is lower, wash performance may be reduced.
  • Water Pressure: Adequate water pressure is necessary for proper operation. Low water pressure can lead to longer inlet times and reduced cleaning effectiveness.
  • Tub Material: The tub and door liner are constructed from quality stainless steel, which is designed to resist staining and improve drying performance.
  • Capacity: The dishwasher is designed for 10 place settings, with specific loading guidelines for upper and lower racks, and a silverware basket.

Usage Features

  • Control Panel: The control panel includes buttons for selecting wash programs, delaying the start time, and initiating/canceling cycles. It also features a display for delay time or error codes.
  • Wash Programs: Five wash programs are available:
    • Heavy: For heavily soiled loads like pots, pans, and casseroles with dried food. Running time: 130 min, Energy: 0.884 Kwh, Water: 24.3 L.
    • Normal (AHAM): For normally soiled loads like plates, glasses, and lightly soiled pans. Running time: 130/140 min, Energy: 0.616 Kwh, Water: 13.8 L.
    • Quick: For lightly soiled loads like plates, glasses, bowls. Running time: 80 min, Energy: 0.527 Kwh, Water: 17.3 L.
    • China Crystal: For lightly soiled china and crystal. Running time: 90 min, Energy: 0.578 Kwh, Water: 13.8 L.
    • Rinse Only: For pre-rinsing dishes or glasses to prevent food from drying and reduce odor. No detergent is used. Running time: 25 min, Energy: 0.1 Kwh, Water: 7.3 L.
  • Time Delay Feature: Allows delaying the start of a wash cycle from 1 to 24 hours, useful for taking advantage of lower electricity costs during off-peak hours or having dishes ready at a specific time.
  • Rinse Aid Warning Indicator: An indicator light on the control panel illuminates when the rinse aid reservoir needs refilling.
  • Detergent Dispenser: Designed for automatic dishwasher detergent. The amount of detergent needed varies based on water hardness.
  • Rinse Aid Dispenser: Releases rinse aid during the final rinse to prevent water spots and streaks, and improve drying. It has four adjustable settings, with "2" recommended as a starting point.
  • Child Lock: A safety feature that locks the control panel buttons, activated by pressing SANITIZE and HEATED DRY buttons for 3 seconds.
  • Sanitize Option: When selected, the water temperature reaches a maximum of 70°C (158°F) for enhanced sanitization.
  • Hi Temp Option: When selected, the water temperature reaches a maximum of 60°C (140°F).
  • Heated Dry Option: Activates the heater during the drying process for improved drying performance.
  • Loading Flexibility: The upper rack can be adjusted for height. The bottom rack features fold-down tine rows to accommodate larger pots and pans. Silverware baskets are designed to hold various utensils, with specific instructions for placement to ensure proper cleaning and prevent items from extending through the bottom.
  • Error Alarm: Displays fault codes to inform the user of abnormal machine status, such as "Longer inlet time" (E1) or "Longer heating time, but not reaching required temperature" (E3).

Maintenance Features

  • Filtering System: Composed of a main filter, coarse filter, and fine filter. These filters trap food and soil particles. The main filter pulverizes particles, the coarse filter traps larger items, and the fine filter prevents redeposition of soil. Filters are removable for cleaning.
  • Cleaning the Control Panel: Should be cleaned with a lightly dampened cloth and then dried thoroughly. A good appliance polish wax can be used for the exterior. Sharp objects, scouring pads, or harsh cleaners should be avoided.
  • Cleaning the Door: The edge around the door should be cleaned with a soft, warm, damp rag. Spray cleaners, abrasive cleaners, or scouring pads should not be used on the door panel.
  • Cleaning the Spray Arms: Regular cleaning is necessary to prevent hard water chemicals from clogging the jets and bearings. The arms can be washed in soapy, warm water and cleaned with a soft brush.
  • Protect Against Freezing: If the dishwasher is in an unheated area during winter, it's recommended to cut off electrical power, turn off and disconnect the water supply, and drain water from the inlet pipe and water valve.
  • Seals Maintenance: Periodic cleaning of the door seals with a damp sponge helps prevent odors caused by trapped food.
  • Holiday Preparation: Before going on holiday, it's recommended to run an empty wash cycle and then leave the door slightly ajar to help seals last longer and prevent odors.
  • Moving the Appliance: If the appliance needs to be moved, it should ideally be kept in a vertical position, but can be positioned on its back if absolutely necessary.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting section to help users identify and resolve common issues such as noise, detergent residue, water not draining, suds in the tub, stained dishes, spots/filming on glassware, and the dishwasher not starting.
