SET ALERT TYPE and TEST
1. Press the ▲button – “ALT TYPE” appears in the display.
NOTE: The radio has three alert types. The “VOICE” alert is suggested.
Alert Type Description
DISPLAY Only a text alert will scroll on the display. There will be no audible alarm.
VOICE
The alert will sound for 8 seconds, then you will hear the voice of the
weather broadcast for 5 minutes
TONE
The alert tone will sound for 5 minutes, or until you press any button
except the “WEATHER/ SNOOZE” button which toggles to the voice
weather broadcast.
2. Press SELECT – one of the alert types will show.
3. Press the ▲button to select the desired alert type, and the icon will change in the display.
4. Press MENU – “ALT TYPE” appears in the display.
5. Press the ▲button – “ALT TEST” appears in the display.
6. If desired, press SELECT to demonstrate the sound of the tone. The tone will not “time out”.
7. Press SELECT to silence the tone – “ALT TEST” appears in the display.
SET BACKLIGHT MODE
1. Press the ▲button – “LIGHT” appears in the display.
NOTE: The radio has two backlight modes:
BLT Type Description
BLT NORM The backlight comes on when a button is pushed or an alert is made.
BLT ON The backlight is always on.
2. Press SELECT – one of the BLT types will show.
3. Press the ▲button to select the desired alert type.
4. Press MENU – “LIGHT” appears in the display.
5. Press MENU to end the programming and the correct time appears in the display.
DEMONSTRATION
1. Press the WEATHER/SNOOZE button to turn the weather radio on. The Weather station may or
may not be heard.
2. Demonstrate the use of the UP and DOWN buttons to adjust the volume of the radio. The colume
bars on the display change with volume level
3. Show the DC JACK on the back of the radio to connect the DC power supply.
4. Demonstrate how the antenna works. Explain that the location of the radio will affect how well it
receives the weather station. Move the radio to another location if reception is poor.
5. The battery icon appears when the battery needs to be replaced.
OPERATION
• ADVISORY – The yellow “Advisory” LED illuminates.
• WATCH – The orange “Watch” LED illuminates and the alert tone sounds.
• WARNING – The red “Warning” LED illuminates and the alert tone sounds.
