Starting
Nacelle temperatures increase rapidly after engine shutdown
in extreme hot weather to cause vaporization in the fuel lines
and fuel evaporation in the manifold. Hot weather restarting
procedure alternatives depend on the length of time the en-
gine has been shutdown. When restarting a hot engine, op-
erate at 1200 to 1500
RPM
for several minutes to disperse
residual heat in the engine compartment. In most in-
stances, the procedure outlined for hot-engine starting may
be usedfor an engine operating under hot weather conditions.
Cold-Weather Starting
The startingprocedurefor a coldengine
is
the same as the
normal starting procedure, except that additional priming
(mixture control set at
FULL
RICH)
may be necessary.
During extremely cold weather it is advisable to preheat the
oil and engine compartment with ground heaters.
