5.4.4 Model 880
(1) Turn the fire helmet upside down.
(2) Remove the ear cover and headband.
(3) Remove the four suspension retainer lugs. A flat-blade screwdriver can be used to remove the
lugs, but make sure to prevent damage to the suspension slots when removing the lugs.
(4) Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the four screws that attach the chinstrap and the right
and left breakaway tabs.
(5) Remove the chinstrap.
(6) Remove the breakaway tabs.
(7) If applicable, do the following:
a) Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the goggle clips or faceshield brackets, then
remove the goggles and/or faceshield.
b) Use an adjustable wrench and Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the NFPA-compliant
Bourke lens.
(8) Remove the impact cap assembly from the shell.
(9) If necessary, do the following to remove the suspension from the impact cap:
a) Unsnap the suspension attachment points from the retaining tabs on the impact cap.
b) Pull the suspension out from the impact cap to remove it.
(10) If necessary, do the following to install the suspension in the impact cap:
a) Install the suspension in the impact cap.
b) Connect the suspension attachment points to the retaining tabs on the impact cap.
c) Pull on the suspension to make sure the suspension attachment points are fully engaged
and secure.
(11) Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to install the four screws that attach the chinstrap and the left
and right breakaway tabs.
