(7) Remove all hook-and-loop fasteners on the inside of
the shell and outside of the impact cap.
(8) Install the black impact cap inside the fire helmet shell with the Defender visor and heatshield
facing toward the front of the shell.
(9) Using the dimples (if available) or holes in the break-
away tab as a guide, mark the location of the holes on
the left and right sides of the fire helmet.
(10) Use a 1/8-in. (3-mm) drill bit to create four pilot holes.
Do NOT drill the pilot holes at an angle. Make sure the
pilot holes are straight.
(11) Remove the black impact cap.
(12) Use an 11/ 64-in. (4.4-mm) drill bit to widen the pilot holes..
(13) Install the black impact cap.
