8. FUEL SYSTEM
CAUTION: When working around the fuel sys-
tem, do not bring any sources of heat, spark, or
open flame close enough to the work are to pose
a fire hazard.
• Drain the fuel tank or clamp the fuel line before
starting work to prevent spillage.
• Dispose of drained fuel in a safe and responsible
manner.
8.1. The fuel tank is secured to a bracket on the back
of the engine by a screw and fender washer,
removable with a 12mm wrench, and a second
bolt, removable with a 10mm wrench.

8.2. To remove the fuel tank:
• Drain the tank.
• Disconnect the fuel line from the tank.
• Remove the fuel cap.
• Unbolt, and remove the tank.

8.3. The tank is vented through the cap.
See Figure 8.3.
8.4. To test the cap vent, a hand-pumped vacuum /
pressure tester may be connected to the fuel
barb (after draining). See Figure 8.4.
