Hex Drive Shaft Assembly
To remove/replace the Hex Drive Shaft Assembly:
1. Remove the Axle Assembly as described in Axle
Assemblies section of this chapter.
2. Remove the E-ring from the left side of the drive shaft
assembly. See Figure 4.6.
3. Remove the bolt or nut, depending on production
date, from the end of the hex shaft using a 9/16”
wrench while holding the shaft with a 13/16” wrench.
See Figure 4.7.
NOTE: Some units may have a 3/4” hex shaft.
NOTE: On single speed units, the drive shaft is round. See
Figure 4.8.
