  If the infrared burner on your Napoleon Grill flashes back, it could be due to ceramic tiles overloaded with grease, clogged ports, overheating from inadequate ventilation, a cracked ceramic tile, or a leaking gasket. Turn the burner off and let it cool for at least two minutes. Relight it and burn on high for at least five minutes or until the ceramic tiles are evenly glowing red. Make sure no more than 75% of the grill surface is covered by objects. If cracks are found, contact your authorized Napoleon dealer to order a replacement burner assembly.

  If it appears that "paint" is peeling inside the lid or hood of your Napoleon Grill, this is not a defect. The finish on the lid and hood is porcelain and will not peel. The peeling is caused by hardened grease, which dries into paint-like shards that flake off. Regular cleaning will prevent this.

  If your Napoleon Grill burner won't light with the igniter but lights with a match, the causes could be a dead or incorrectly installed battery, a loose electrode wire or switch terminal wires, the wrong replacement igniter, an improper gap at the electrode tip, or lifting flames on the burner. Replace the battery with a heavy-duty battery. Check that the electrode wire is firmly pushed onto the terminal on the back of the igniter and that the lead wires from the module to the ignition switch (if equipped) are firmly pushed onto their respective terminals. One spark systems must use a one spark igniter. Ensure that the collector box is tight and the gap between the electrode end and the collector box is between 1/8” - 3/16” (3mm-5mm), adjusting by bending the box if needed. Closing the air...
