Why does my Napoleon Grill infrared burner flash back?
    • M
      melissawoodardSep 18, 2025
If the infrared burner on your Napoleon grill flashes back, making a loud 'whoosh' sound and growing dim, turn the burner off and let it cool for at least two minutes. Relight it and burn on high for at least five minutes, until the ceramic tiles glow red evenly. Ensure that objects or accessories cover no more than 75% of the grill surface. If the issue continues, inspect the ceramic tiles for cracks after the burner cools. Contact your authorized Napoleon dealer for a replacement if needed.

Why won't the rear and side burners on my Napoleon Grill light with the igniter?
    • C
      carrrobertAug 26, 2025
If the rear and side burners on your Napoleon Grill will not light with the igniter but light with a match, the battery may be dead or installed incorrectly, or the electrode wire or switch terminal wires may be loose. Replace the battery with a heavy-duty premium battery. Check that the electrode wire is firmly pushed onto the terminal on the back of the igniter. Ensure that the lead wires from the module to the ignition switch (if equipped) are firmly pushed onto their respective terminals.

What to do if Napoleon BIPRO 500 burner output is too low?
    • J
      Jonathan WaltersAug 27, 2025
If your Napoleon Grill's burner output on high is too low, producing a rumbling noise and fluttering blue flame, check the gas level in your propane cylinder or reposition the supply hose if it's pinched. Clean the burner orifice and venturi tube. Also, ensure you follow the correct lighting procedure: all gas grill valves must be off when you turn on the tank valve, and turn the tank on slowly to equalize pressure.

Napoleon BIPRO 500 rear burner won't light with igniter, what to do?
    • D
      Danny DunlapAug 27, 2025
If the rear and side burners on your Napoleon Grill won't light with the igniter but will light with a match, replace the battery with a premium heavy-duty one or check if it is installed correctly. Also, check that the electrode wire is firmly pushed onto the terminal on the back of the igniter and that the lead wires from the module to the ignition switch are firmly pushed onto their respective terminals. Closing the air shutter slightly might also help.

Why is the flame yellow on my Napoleon BIPRO 500?
    • T
      Tiffany ShepherdSep 22, 2025
If the burners on your Napoleon Grill are burning with a yellow flame and accompanied by the smell of gas, it could be due to a spider web or other debris, or improper air shutter adjustment. Thoroughly clean the burner. Open the air shutter slightly according to combustion air adjustment instructions; this adjustment must be done by a qualified gas installer.

What to do if the pilot light won't light on my Napoleon BIPRO 500?
    • E
      emily43Nov 23, 2025
If the pilot on your Napoleon Grill won't light, this could be due to several reasons: lack of gas, an obstruction in the pilot orifice, a loose or disconnected electrode wire, a dirty pilot electrode, or the pilot may actually be lit but difficult to see. After turning the pilot knob to high, wait approximately 20-30 seconds for air to purge the gas supply line while pressing the igniter. Fill the propane cylinder if it's empty. During initial setup or after refilling the tank, it's best to light one of the tube burners before lighting the pilot burner to help gas reach the valves on the manifold more quickly. Clean the pilot orifice or electrode, and replace the lead wire if necessary. Note that the pilot flame, especially on natural gas units, can be very difficult to see; place your ha...

Why is the flame low on my Napoleon BIPRO 500 when the valve is on high?
    • W
      William GrimesSep 10, 2025
To address low heat or flame issues on your Napoleon Grill when the valve is on high, ensure the lighting procedure is carefully followed. For propane grills, all gas grill valves must be off when the tank valve is turned on, and the tank should be turned on slowly to allow pressure to equalize. For natural gas grills, verify that the pipe is sized according to the installation code. For both gas types, preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes.

What to do if my Napoleon Grill has excessive flare-ups and uneven heat?
    • A
      Amy OliverSep 12, 2025
Excessive flare-ups and uneven heat on your Napoleon Grill can occur if sear plates are installed incorrectly, so refer to the assembly instructions. Improper preheating can also be a factor, so preheat the grill with main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes. Also, excessive grease and ash buildup on sear plates and in the drip pan can cause this issue, so clean these components regularly. Do not line the drip pan with aluminum foil.

    Olivia PetersSep 4, 2025
Why is the burner output on 'high' setting too low on my Napoleon BIPRO 500?
    • S
      Stephanie GravesSep 4, 2025
If the burner output on the high setting is too low, accompanied by a rumbling noise and a flute ring blue flame at the burner surface, it could be due to several factors: lack of gas, a pinched supply hose, a dirty or clogged orifice, spider webs or other matter in the venturi tube, or a propane regulator in a 'low flow' state. Check the gas level in the propane cylinder and reposition the supply hose if necessary. Clean the burner orifice and venturi tube. Ensure the lighting procedure is followed carefully: all gas grill valves must be in the off position when the tank valve is turned on, and turn the tank on slowly to allow pressure to equalize.

What to do if there are excessive flare-ups or uneven heat on my Napoleon BIPRO 500?
    • I
      icardenasSep 2, 2025
Excessive flare-ups and uneven heat can be caused by sear plates installed incorrectly, improper preheating, or excessive grease and ash build-up on the sear plates and in the drip pan. Ensure the sear plates are installed with the holes towards the front and the slots on the bottom, following the assembly instructions. Preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes. Clean the sear plates and drip pan regularly, and do not line the pan with aluminum foil; refer to the cleaning instructions.
