processorlatency,anddevicearchitecturecanaffectserialperformance,
busutilizationoftenisnot100percent.Inaddition,thereisoverhead
associatedwithserialcommunicationintheformofstartbits,stopbits,
andparitybits.Thisoverheadreducesthethroughputby20–30percent.
Thus,theactualdatathroughputcanbeconsiderablylessthanthebits
persecondsetting.
