5 Use
WARNING! Risk of personal injury.
• When moving, liing and installing the fan, always follow the instrucons provided in
this manual.
• Never use the fan in condions other than those indicated by the data on the
idencaon plate.
• Never deacvate, remove, modify or in any other way render inoperave safety devices,
guards or control devices, either of individual components or of the fan itself.
• Never place hands, arms or any other part of the body near any moving part even by
forcing the opening of apertures.
• Never extend parts of the body beyond protecon structures. It is forbidden to use aids
that may increase normal accessibility.
• Never use the fan in atmospheres or environments with the risk of explosions, with the
excepon of fans that are in conformity with the ATEX /EC Direcve.
• Unauthorized operators must not aempt to recfy any malfuncon of the fan and/or
modify the funconal characteriscs or and installaon type.
• Ensure that uids are not introduced into fans.
• Aer any unprogrammed maintenance operaon that required the removal of shields,
barriers or any other protecve device, ensure that all these components have been
reed and are fully funconal before restarng the fan.
• All guards and safety devices must be maintained in condions of perfect and constant
eciency. Warning signs, safety symbols and danger warnings must be also maintained
in perfect eciency and in their correct posion.
• When troubleshoong any faults or malfuncons with fans, take all the precauons
described in this manual, intended to prevent all and any kind of injury to persons or
damage to things.
• Remember to ghten all bolts, nuts and xing rings on all mechanical components that
are adjusted or serviced, following the indicaons given in Table 6-2: Tightening torques
M for bolts with ISO metric thread.
• Before starng the fan, check that all guards and safety devices are installed and in
perfect operang condion. If they are not, it is absolutely prohibited to start the fan.
The person responsible for plant safety or the department head must be informed
immediately.
• Operators must be provided with Personal Protecon Equipment (PPE) in conformity
with legal requirements, such as for example safety footwear, a protecve helmet (if
suspended loads are to be moved), work gloves, insulated footwear and gloves (in
case of work on electrical components) and all other items of PPE required by specic
safety regulaons. Bulky garments and various accessories (es, wide sleeves, etc) are
prohibited.
• The uid moved by the fan must be adequately checked for the possible presence of
toxic and/or inammable substances, even if their presence is not expected in the use of
the fan.
6 Maintenance
Read this secon carefully before carrying out maintenance operaons on the fan. This will
ensure greater condions of safety for maintenance personnel and greater reliability of the
work done.
