5 Use
WARNING! Risk of personal injury.
When moving, liing and installing the fan, always follow the instrucons provided in
this manual.
Never use the fan in condions other than those indicated by the data on the
idencaon plate.
Never deacvate, remove, modify or in any other way render inoperave safety devices,
guards or control devices, either of individual components or of the fan itself.
Never place hands, arms or any other part of the body near any moving part even by
forcing the opening of apertures.
Never extend parts of the body beyond protecon structures. It is forbidden to use aids
that may increase normal accessibility.
Never use the fan in atmospheres or environments with the risk of explosions, with the
excepon of fans that are in conformity with the ATEX /EC Direcve.
Unauthorized operators must not aempt to recfy any malfuncon of the fan and/or
modify the funconal characteriscs or and installaon type.
Ensure that uids are not introduced into fans.
Aer any unprogrammed maintenance operaon that required the removal of shields,
barriers or any other protecve device, ensure that all these components have been
reed and are fully funconal before restarng the fan.
All guards and safety devices must be maintained in condions of perfect and constant
eciency. Warning signs, safety symbols and danger warnings must be also maintained
in perfect eciency and in their correct posion.
When troubleshoong any faults or malfuncons with fans, take all the precauons
described in this manual, intended to prevent all and any kind of injury to persons or
damage to things.
Remember to ghten all bolts, nuts and xing rings on all mechanical components that
are adjusted or serviced, following the indicaons given in Table 6-2: Tightening torques
M for bolts with ISO metric thread.
Before starng the fan, check that all guards and safety devices are installed and in
perfect operang condion. If they are not, it is absolutely prohibited to start the fan.
The person responsible for plant safety or the department head must be informed
immediately.
Operators must be provided with Personal Protecon Equipment (PPE) in conformity
with legal requirements, such as for example safety footwear, a protecve helmet (if
suspended loads are to be moved), work gloves, insulated footwear and gloves (in
case of work on electrical components) and all other items of PPE required by specic
safety regulaons. Bulky garments and various accessories (es, wide sleeves, etc) are
prohibited.
The uid moved by the fan must be adequately checked for the possible presence of
toxic and/or inammable substances, even if their presence is not expected in the use of
the fan.
6 Maintenance
Read this secon carefully before carrying out maintenance operaons on the fan. This will
ensure greater condions of safety for maintenance personnel and greater reliability of the
work done.
