Chapter III. Operation
Basically, this system is operated through the host computer. For details on making measurements,
refer to the instruction manual for the “VMA Automeasure.” This chapter explains how to turn the
system on and off, how to clean the system, and how to lubricate.
3.1 Turning the Power On and Off
Power ON:
Turn on the power switch on the front of the controller.
Turn on the power switch on the host computer.
Power OFF:
Close all of the applications that are currently running, including iNEXIV.
Shut down Windows, which will shut off the host computer.
Turn off the power switch on the front of the controller.
3.2 Cleaning
Use this system in as clean an environment as possible in order to prevent dust and grease
from accumulating on the system. In particular, clean the guide faces of the stage regularly to
make sure they remain clean at all times.
3.3 Lubricating the System
Supply Sukuwaral M-1 grease manufactured by Riken to the guide faces of the stage to clean
and lubricate the surfaces.
It is not necessary to lubricate the vertical-motion lead screw frequently. If it produces a
squeaking noise, however, apply an appropriate amount of Epnoc Grease AP0 manufactured
by Nippon Oil Corp. (ENEOS). Note that applying an excessive amount of grease may cause
the grease to spatter during operation. Using a small brush, apply a small amount of grease
at a time and operate the unit so that it moves up and down; repeat this process to spread
the grease evenly.
