Troubleshooting
2. Pump not stroking
Problem
1. Adhesive not
melted
2. No or
inadequate
air pressure
to pump
3. Problem in
hydraulic
system
4. Clogged filter
Charred material from tank lodged in
in manifold
filter screen
5. Cold hose-to-
applicator or
hose-to-gun
joints
Temperature at joint too low for
adhesive to flow
6. (Auto guns)
Input air
pressure to
gun incorrect
Possible Reason
Tank temp setting incorrect
Tank temp channel not functioning
properly
Incorrect setting at filter/regulator
Fault with shop air supply
Faulty pump solenoid
Various (charred material from tank
lodged in hydraulic system, blocked
filter, clogged gun nozzle, etc.)
To test:
(a) Shut pump air off
(b) Open drain valve slightly
(c) Increase pump air pressure slowly
(d) Note if pump begins to stroke
Setting incorrect
Corrective Action
Check tank temp setting and correct if
necessary
Go to TanWHose/Gun Fails to Heat or
Underhea ts
Set pump air supply to 10 - 60 psi
(0.7 - 4 bar)
Resolve problem with shop air supply
Verify faulty solenoid with air and/or
voltage test
Replace solenoid if faulty
Go to step 4 if yes - problem is
downstream of drain valve
Go to step 8 if no - blockage is
upstream of drain valve
Relieve system pressure, remove and
clean filter
Install insulation around joint
Install heated inline filter at joint
Go to Tank/Hose/Gun Fails to Heat or
Underheats
Set gun air supply to 35 - 80 psi (2.4 -
5.5 bar)
