2. Switch to the Scan tab by clicking the button in the Main Operations
panel to activate scanning-by-sample. Open the scanning parameters window by
clicking the
button. Select the following detection signals for the forward
pass:
- for ADC#1 – PMT;
- for ADC#2 – Height.
3. Perform scanning-by-sample of the selected area. The optical intensity distribution
and the surface landscape will be acquired (Fig. 4-19). For the example, the test
structure Al-projection pattern 0.453 µm on the cover glass (produced by Kentax.de)
was used. Images are presented with a color scheme that displays more transparent
regions with darker colors.

4.4. Saving Data
Data collected during the scanning procedure are stored in the RAM. They can be viewed
and analyzed in the
Data tab (by clicking the button in the Main Operations
panel).
To save the data on the hard disk, perform the following steps:
1. Select the File Save Main menu command.
2. A dialog box will appear. Define the folder to store the data (by default, it is
C:\Program Files\NT-MDT\Nova).
3. Type in a filename and save it with the extension *.mdt.
NOTE. By default, the images obtained are stored in files “NoNameXX.mdt”,
where XX is the file index in the folder
