• Keep the battery out of reach of child-
ren. There is risk of ingestion. If there is
a suspicion of swallwing the battery,
immediately see a doctor.
• Batteries may contain toxic substances,
so follow the instructions for disposal
(see “10.2Disposable/rechargeable
batteries“ on page52).
Caution!
To prevent material damage:
• The batteries must be removed when flat
or if the device is not going to be used for
an extended period, otherwise leaking
batteries may damage the device.
• Be sure only to use type CR2032
batteries.
3.6 Material damage
Caution!
To prevent material damage,
follow the instructions below.
• Do not expose the device to direct
sunlight or extreme heat, as UV rays and
overheating may make the plastics
brittle and the electronics might be
damaged.
• Never use the device in very damp or
wet surroundings.
• Never use caustic or abrasive cleaning
agents, as this could damage your device.
• Do not submerge the device in water or
expose it to direct moisture. Avoid the
reflective mirror steaming up.
4. Starting the device
1. Remove all packaging material from the
device.
2. Pull out the insulating strip of the battery.
The thermometer switches on with a beep.
Note:
If the insulating strip tears off when
you pull it out, take out the battery and
remove the rest of the insulating
strip (see “6.2Changing the battery“ on
page40).
