5. Operating the device
5.1 Basic information
Fever is a state of increased body
temperature.
Body temperature:
A “normal” temperature is around 36.5 to
37.0 °C (97.7 98.6 °F). The highest
temperature will be read in the early
evening. The values differ according to
where the temperature was taken (mouth,
armpit, anus, ear, temple).
Causes:
Fever may result from colds, other illnesses
such as respiratory infections, some
intestinal infections, hyperthyroidism or the
presence of tumours.
Symptoms and diagnoses:
Sweating, shivering or chills are indications
of an increased body temperature.
You should contact a doctor:
When fever starts, it may have a negative
effect on the body, depending on age, the
constitution and the current well-being of
the person. The use of the device doesn‘t
replace the investigations of the doctor.
Please inform about the critical values and
consult a doctor if these are exceeded.
5.2 Special things to consider when
measuring a fever
Please note that when taking the
temperature several times in succession,
the results may fluctuate by up to half a
degree.
Factors which may affect the measured
value when
measuring at the forehead
:
Thickness of the skin at the forehead
Sweat on the forehead
