Why won't the Omron Q2A-A4018-AAA motor rotate after entering the run command?
    • T
      Terry MillerAug 10, 2025
The motor may not rotate after entering the run command for several reasons. The drive might not be in Drive Mode, indicated by the keypad not showing [Rdy]. Ensure the keypad displays [Rdy] or return to the Home screen. A fast stop command could have been received; if so, turn off the fast stop input signal. The settings for the Run command source (b1-02) or the frequency reference source (b1-01) might be incorrect, so verify these settings. Defective wiring in the control circuit terminals or incorrect voltage/current input settings for the master frequency reference could also be the cause. Also, check if the frequency reference is too low, and if so, increase it above the minimum output frequency (E1-09). Finally, confirm the sinking/sourcing mode and power supply settings are correct.

What to do if the Omron Controller motor is too hot?
    • D
      Don BlankenshipAug 17, 2025
If the Omron Controller motor is overheating, it could be due to a heavy load or continuous operation at very low speed. Reduce the load, increase acceleration and deceleration times, and examine the values set in L1-01, L1-02, and E2-01. Consider using a larger motor. If the motor is running continuously at a very low speed, change the run speed or use a drive-dedicated motor.

Why is the Omron Q2A-A4018-AAA Controller drive frequency reference different from the controller frequency?
    • K
      Kim NguyenAug 25, 2025
The discrepancy between the drive frequency reference and the controller frequency in your Omron system can stem from several factors. The analog input gain and bias for the frequency reference input might be incorrectly configured; examine the settings for Terminals AI1, AI2, and AI3. The drive could be receiving frequency bias signals from analog input terminals AI1 to AI3, with the sum affecting the frequency reference; check parameters H3-02, H3-10, and H3-06. If PID control is enabled and not required, disable it by setting b5-01 = 0.

How to fix Omron Controller motor stalls during acceleration?
    • D
      David BuckleyDec 1, 2025
If the Omron Controller motor stalls during acceleration, it could be due to several reasons. The drive and motor system may have reached the torque limit. Decrease the load or use a larger motor. The torque limit setting could be incorrect, so ensure it is properly configured. If the acceleration time is too short, check the values set in C1-01, C1-03, C1-05, or C1-07 and adjust them accordingly. Also, a low frequency reference can cause this issue. Examine E1-04 and U1-01, and check the multi-function input terminals and low gain levels in H3-03, H3-11, and H3-07. If the motor characteristics and drive parameter settings are incompatible, set the correct V/f pattern and perform Rotational Auto-Tuning. If operating in vector control mode, complete Auto-Tuning or switch to V/f Control by s...
