Using Enigma SED
Once the Enigma SED is installed and configured all data that is read from or written to the Enigma SED
hard drive will be encrypted and decrypted on the fly using 256 Bit AES hardware encryption. Without
successful authentication your computer will not be able to boot into Windows and the data stored on the
Enigma SED will not be accessible and the drive will remain locked.
Every time you turn on your computer you will be presented with the MySecureDoc Express “Boot LogOn
screen which will allow you to enter your user or administrator authentication credentials.
When booting your computer for the first time, you will need to use the administrator credentials you
created during installation and configuration to authenticate.
If you are the sole user you may continue to use the administrator credentials to access logon. However, if
you wish to use the computer in a multi-user environment or limit user access rights to the management
console, you must create additional users.
For details on how to do this please consult the MySecureDoc Express user manual located on the Enigma
SED Installation CD-Rom.
Important: Once you have successfully authenticated at the “Boot LogOn” screen the Enigma SED
is unlocked. The Enigma SED drive will only fully lock itself and securely protect your data if you
fully shutdown and turn off your computer. If you place your computer into sleep or hibernation
modes then the Enigma SED will remain unlocked.
