4.11 Changing tyres
Improper tyre replacement
Injuries to the user due to incorrect installation, product damage
f No person is permitted to sit in the wheelchair during tyre replacement.
f Before removing a wheel, support the product so it cannot tip over.
f Always replace the tyres in pairs. Two differently worn tyres affect the directional stability of the wheelchair.
f Prerequisites:
Optional: Move the seat to the lowest seat height (see Seite 12).
Switch off the control unit and deactivate the main fuse (see Seite 12).
If necessary: Remove the legrests.
Jack up the wheelchair (see Seite 11).
f Tools: Allen wrench size5, 6; torque wrench with Allen insert size5, 6; Optional: Plastic tyre mounting levers;
inner tube repair kit
Removing the tyres
1) Remove the wheel (see Seite 27/Seite 33).
2) Optional for pneumatic tyres: Let all the air out of the tyre.
3) Loosen and remove the 5 screws on the inside of the rim (see Fig. 75/76).
4) Separate the 2 pieces of the rim.
5) Remove the tyre from the rim and replace if necessary.
6) Optional for pneumatic tyres: Pull the inner tube out of the casing and repair or replace if necessary.
Installing the tyres
1) Optional for pneumatic tyres: Inate the inner tube slightly and insert it into the casing.
2) Pull the tyre onto the rim. Optional for pneumatic tyres: Insert the valve of the inner tube into the notch in the
rim (see Fig. 75, item 1).
3) Join the 2 pieces of the rim. Precisely align the notches for the valve one on top of the other (see Fig. 75, item 1).
4) Insert the 5 screws on the inside of the rim and rmly tighten them in a crosswise sequence (see Fig. 75/76).
5) Attach the wheel (see Seite 27/Seite 33).
