Troubleshooting
Problem 1: While in the automatic measurement mode, the unit beeps and takes
a reading while the probe is in air.
Solution 1: Retune probe.
Problem 2: While in the continuous measurement mode, a large reading (over
40 mils) will intermittently display.
Solution 2: Retune probe.
Problem 3: Printer prints out incoherent symbols every time a reading is taken.
Solution 3: Factory settings in the gage have changed. Press “٭” “2” ENTER “٭”
“3” ENTER and “٭” “7” ENTER. Or the Seiko printer has changed. Set the dip
switches as follows:
Or make sure all of the connections to and from the printer are secure.
Problem 4: Unit shows “BAT” in lower right of the display, beeps three times and
then shuts off.
Solution 4: The battery is low or dead. Replace battery.
Problem 5: The word FULL is displayed after taking a reading.
Solution 5: The statistics’ memory is full. Clear the statistics following the
instructions in the manual.
Problem 6: The unit will not calibrate.
Solution 6: Recalibrate the unit following the instructions in the manual. Or
return the probe and recalibrate the unit following the instructions in the manual.
Or make sure the correct units of measurement are being used, i.e. do not enter
.86 um instead of .86 mils.
