The VASS mode indicator flashes.
Playback starts and the VASS mode indicator stops
flashing after the address signal recording has been made.
eBe sure that the TV system is PAL or CCIR.
Do not insert tapes with broken removable tabs.
While an Address Signal is Being Recorded
The VASS mode indicator flashes for about 6 seconds
when an address signal is recorded during recording
and for about 8 seconds when an address signal is
recorded on an already recorded tape.
While recording an address signal on a recorded tape,
no other operation can be performed and the sound
from the normal (mono) sound track will be muted
while the VASS mode Indicator is flashing.
lf Address Signal Cannot be Recorded
It is not possible to record address signal on a tape
which had the tab removed. To be able to record these
signals, cover the tab hole with two layers of adhesive
tape. After the signals are recorded, strip off the
adhesive tape to prevent accidental erasure of the
recording.
elf the CTL is not recorded correctly during playback,
VASS mode indicator flashes about 30 secondes and
the VTR will stop automatically. If this occurs, turn the
power once again.

. Press the SEARCH Button to light the “-*” indication in
the tape counter.

When the Menu display remains on the screen, this step
cannot be activated. Clear the Menu display by pressing
the Screen Display Button.
. Input the number of the address signal you want to locate
with the DATA and SHIFT Buttons.
. When setting is completed, press the SHIFT Button.
. Press the REW or FF Button to start the VHS Address
Search function.
eThe counter will indicate “0000” and each time an
address signal is found, its number will be displayed.
To abort the VHS Address Search function midway, press
the SEARCH Button and light off the ““-**' indicator.
eWhen preset address signal is reached, the VTR will go
into play mode.
