These
batteries can
operate
for
a
year
with
the
radio
batteries installed.
Notes:
.When
replacing
the memory
back-up
batteries, be
sure to install
the
radio
batteries or
connect the included AC
adaptor.

for more
than
a
year,
it causes
damage due to
battery leakage. Be
sure to replace the
batteries once a
year.

Operation

Open the Radio Battery
Compartment cov-
er as shown in the figure.

UM-3
(National
Fl6P/LR6 or
equivalent)
batteries into the Radio Battery
Compartment, making
sure that the batter-
ies
are installed in
the designated numeri-
cal
order and that the
proper
polarities
(@
and
Q)
are maintained.
oWhen
the radio
batteries
are
installed
correctly and the Power
On Key is
press-
ed, make
sure that the lowest frequency
(LW 153
kHz)
is
displayed. This is nor-
mal. lf not
so, remove
both the memory
back-up batteries
and the radio batteries.
After
a
few
minutes, install
the
memory
back-up batteries
and then the radio
batteries again.
3. Replace the compartment
cover.
.Radio
battery life
lf the radio
batteries become weakened
during
radio
reception,
the error lndication will
begin
flashing.
After about 10
seconds the radio will
be automatically turned
otf, and
a clock
time
will
be displayed.
.The
error indication
can
operate only
during radio reception.
oWhile
setting
the clock time
or the
stand-
by time, the error indication
cannot oper-
ate even if
during radio reception.
oWhile
the
error
indication
is flashing,
all
the
keys except for
the Power
Off Key
cannot
operate.
oWhen
replacing the
radio
batteries,
be
sure to
disconnect the included
AC
adap-
tor
or car adaptor.

Power Operation

1 . lnsert
the
plug
at the
end
of the AC
adaptor
cord into
the DC
lnput
Jack.
2. Plug
the AC adaptor
unit into
your
house-
hold AC
power
outlet.
Note:
To
operate on radio battery
power,
unplug
the AC
adaptor unit
from
the
household AC
power
outlet and
the DC
lnput
Jack
on
the
unit.

Gar Battery Operation

Connect
the car adaptor
and
the DC
plug
adaptor as
shown
in the
figure.
The
unit will
automatically
switch from
internal
battery
to
car
battery operation.
oBe
sure to
set the
voltage
selector
of the car
adaptor to 6 V.
HOLDFUNCTION-
The Hold
Function
enables
all the keys
in the
front
panel
and the Rotary
Tuning
Control not
to
operate.
So, the frequency
being received
and the
clock times
being
set are locked
and
cannot
be changed accidentally.
And
even if
the Power
Off
Key is
pressed
by
mistake,
the
radio
cannot be turned
off. lt
is useful when
you
carry
the unit, listening
to
the radio. This
function
operates also during
radio-off.
Even if
the Power
On
Key is
pressed
by mistake,
the
radio
cannot be turned
on. lt
prevents
the
batteries
from
being wasted.
.To
operate the Hold Function,
set the Hold
Switch
to the direction of
the
arrow. Then
the
Hold
lndicator
(
lreD
)
will
appear.
