PATTERSON KELLEY
COMPACT SEMI-INSTANTANEOUS HOT WATER HEATER
Installation of Loose Shipped Controls
1) Spence T61 Temperature Controller and “J” or “K” Series Pneumatic Control Valve
Please install as shown on drawing 1. Pipe 1/4" copper tubing to the 1/8" port on
left side of body. From the right 1/8" port, pipe 1/4" tubing to the 1/4" steam
valve shut-off solenoid valve. (The solenoid valve can be piped in anywhere on
the control air line to the Spence “J” series control valve). From the solenoid
valve continue 1/4" copper tubing on to the Spence “J” or “K” series control
valve. The tubing MUST be supplied to the bottom 1/4" port on the valve
actuator. Continue to follow the installation instructions supplied in this manual
for the T61 temperature controller and “J” or “K” series pneumatic control
valve.
The T61 temperature controller should be set at desired hot water temperature.
2) Solenoid Valves
The hot water dump solenoid valve does come pre-wired. The steam valve shut-
off solenoid valve is not, and is to be wired to the port in the control panel marked
steam valve pilot (SVP)
3) Vacuum Breaker
Please install the vacuum breaker in the vertical position as shown in drawing 1.
It can be teed in after the control valve or there is a connection right on the steam
line into the heat exchanger tubes. That connection can also be used for the
vacuum breaker (Please install the vacuum breaker in the vertical position)
4) Steam Trap
Please follow installation instructions provided in this manual.
