CAUTION
PCM Engines uses marine transmissions supplied
by several manufacturers. The maintenance
requirements can be different between these
manufacturers. It is important that you refer to the
operation and maintenance manual supplied by the
transmission manufacturer before you attempt to
perform maintenance on your own. If no maintenance
manual is available, PCM Engines recommends that
you contact your dealer service department for any
required maintenance or service instructions.
PCM Transmissions
1. Engine must be running at operating
temperature.
2. Shift at least once into forward, once in reverse,
then back to neutral.
3. With the engine running, and the prop shaft not
turning, install the dipstick in all the way.
4. Remove the dipstick and check the fl uid level.
The dipstick should read FULL.
5. If the fl uid level is low, add in small increments
until the FULL mark is reached.
6. It is normal, after the engine is turned OFF, for
the level to read above the FULL mark.
1. Remove the dipstick by turning the T-handle
counterclockwise. Observe the fl uid level.
Replace the dipstick and tighten securely.
2. Operate the engine until the engine and the
transmission reach operating temperature.
3. Stop the engine and quickly check the fl uid
level to minimize the drain-back from the oil
cooler. Remove the dipstick by turning the
T-handle counterclockwise. Observe the fl uid
level.
4. The fl uid level should be at the “FULL” or “MAX”
mark. If low, add the specifi ed fl uid through the
dipstick tube. Repeat checking procedures as
required until the fl uid level is at the “FULL” or
“MAX” mark.
5. Replace the dipstick and tighten securely.
WARNING
Do not attempt to remove the transmission dipstick
while the engine is running. Hot transmission fl uid
could be sprayed from the dipstick hole.
