RANGE OF LIGHT MEASUREMENT
The ex po sure meter of t he K 1 0 00 measures the
brig htness of the ground glass. Therefore, the
meter needle should be c en tered after you
have focused your subject on the grou nd
glass . The area (A ) in the table indicates the
reading range of t he meter, and should not
be interpreted as the ca mera 's total ra n ge of
f Istop- shutter sp eed co mbinations. As you
w ill note fro m the table, with an ASA / ISO 100
fil m, yo u may use any shutter sp e ed from
112 sec. to 1/ 1000 sec . in combination with
any aperture that will bri ng the meter needle
to the midpoint in the viewfinder .
The
total range of the ape rture settings is,
of course, determi n ed by th e minimum and
maximum ap ertur es of th e lens being used .
For example, with the 50mm f / 2 lens and
ASA / ISO 100 film , any aperture from f /2 (the
ma
xi mum ape rt ure of t h is l en s) to f /16 may
be use d w it h any shutt er sp eed fr om 112 sec.
to 1/1 000 sec . that w ill bring t he me ter ne ed le
to mi dpo in t. Howeve r, t he comb inatio n of
f/22 (mini mu m ape rt ure) an d 1/1 000 sec. is
beyond th e measurab ility ra n ge (B), as sh own
in the table. As th e ASA / ISO film sp eed changes,
th e me as urab ility ra nge va ries.
