First, check that the lens aperture ring is set to the 's' position, or select '[Permitted]' in '[22. Using Aperture Ring]' of the '[A Custom Setting 4]' menu. Also, wait until the built-in flash finishes charging. Ensure your SD Memory Card has available space, or delete unwanted images. Finally, wait until any ongoing recording is finished.

  If the focus cannot be locked on your Pentax Digital Camera, and [AF Mode] is set to k, autofocus will not lock. Set [AF Mode] to l (Single mode) and use the focus lock. Also, if the Capture mode is set to \ (Moving Object) in Picture mode, or n (Stage Lighting), l (Night Snap), R (Kids), or Y (Pet) in H (Scene) mode, change the Capture mode to another setting.
