Voltmeter
Your voltmeter displays the battery voltage. Normally, it should show
12V to 14V (volts).
Air Filter Restriction Indicator Gauge
This gauge indicates the condition of the engine air cleaner and is
measured by inches of water (H
2
O). A clean filter should register 7”
H
2
O (may vary with system design); a filter whose life is over will reg-
ister approximately 20” H
2
O (for Cummins engines) or 25” H
2
O (for
Caterpillar engines).
NOTE: Even with a healthy charge/start system, the voltme-
ter may fall well below 12V during engine cranking. If voltage
drops below 12V and stays there, have the electrical system
checked.
