Drive Axles or Trailers: Replace tires on drive axles or
trailers when less than 2/32 in. of tread depth remains in
any major groove. Check at three places equally spaced
around the tire. See the next illustration for recommended
measuring points for tread depth.
WARNING! Do not replace original equipment
tires with load ratings less than the original
tires. Doing so could lead to unintentional
overloading of the tire, which could cause a
failure resulting in loss of vehicle control and
an injury accident.
