Utility stitches and practical sewing
28
Elastic blind stitch, program F
The elastic blind stitch is especially suit-
able for invisible hems; sewing by hand is
no longer necessary. It is equally suitable
for both stretch and non-stretch fabrics.
The hem is sewn and serged simultane-
ously, i.e. an extra serging of the fabric
edge is not necessary.
On materials which fray strongly, serge
the hem edge separately.
Use blind stitch foot no. 3.
Fold the hem width inwards.
Lay the hem back outwards so that the
hem edge protrudes by about 1 cm.
Lay the fabric underneath the presser
foot so that the crease line runs along
the red guide.
The needle should only catch one
thread when entering the fabric in the
crease line.
