Reducing picture disturbance - optimising
the modulator
You may experience picturedisturbance if you havenot used
a scart cable to connectyour video recorder and TV.This is
because another TV stationin your reception area may
already be using UHF-channelCH36 or 591MHz.
In this case thepicture quality on yourTV set will be poor
when receiving one or moreTV channels with the video
recorder switched on.
a Make sure that thereis no cassette inthe video recorder.
With the video recorderswitched off holdthe SYSTEM
button for a few secondsuntil the modulatorfrequency,
for example, ’M591’ (591Mhz or channel 36) appears on
the video recorder display.The video recorderwill then
transmit a testpicture channel or frequency.

button.
d Tune in the TV set tothis channel or frequency.

Switching off the modulator
If you cannot clear pictureor sound interference,you can
switch off the built-inmodulator.
You should only do thisif you have connected the video
recorder to the TV setwith a scart cable.’Connecting VCR
without scart cable’is not possible whenthe modulator is
switched off.
a Switch on the TV setand select the programme number
for the video recorder.
b Make sure that nocassette is in thevideo recorder.
Press the SYSTEM button for severalseconds, until, for
example, ’M591’ appearson the video recorder display.
c Hold the CLEAR (CL), y button, until ’MOFF’(modulator
off) appears on thevideo recorder display.If you want to
switch the modulatoeon again, hold the CLEAR (CL), y
button, until ’M591’ (Modulatorswitched on) appears on
the display.
d To end, press the TV/STANDBY m button.
