Why is my Pit Boss PBK22 not getting hot enough?
    • T
      Teresa ChavezAug 15, 2025
Your Pit Boss Grill might not be reaching the desired temperature due to a few reasons. First, check the fuel level; insufficient charcoal can cause the fire to die down quickly. The maximum recommended amount of lump charcoal is 1.81kg / 4lbs per burn. If the fuel is sufficient, ensure both vents are fully open to maximize oxygen flow, which helps the fire burn hotter and consume more charcoal.

What to do if my Pit Boss Grill will not light?
    • B
      Brian JacksonAug 18, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill isn't lighting, first ensure that both the top and bottom vents are open to provide sufficient airflow for the fire to catch. If vents are open, make sure you are using lump charcoal, which is required for this grill. Once the fire has started, leave the bottom vent and lid open for about 10 minutes to establish a bed of hot embers.

What to do if my Pit Boss Grill gets too hot?
    • R
      Robert RodriguezAug 21, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill becomes too hot, close the lid and mostly close both vents to reduce oxygen flow, which will help to smother the fire. For lower temperature cooking, it's best to use less fuel to begin with.

How to prevent flare-ups on my Pit Boss PBK22?
    • J
      Jacqueline GilbertAug 26, 2025
To minimize flare-ups on your Pit Boss Grill: * Try cooking at a lower temperature, especially when cooking greasy foods. Keep the temperature under 176°C / 350°F. * Also, to prevent back-drafts, lift the lid slightly ('burping' the grill) to allow air to enter slowly and safely.

Why won't my Pit Boss PBK22 bottom damper slide?
    • V
      Victoria WilliamsAug 28, 2025
If the bottom damper on your Pit Boss Grill is stuck, it might be due to ash buildup. Try tapping the damper lightly with a rubber hammer to loosen it.

Why is my Pit Boss PBK22 Grill lid stuck?
    • G
      grahamtimothyAug 31, 2025
If the lid of your Pit Boss Grill is stuck, it may be due to improper curing of the unit, which can damage the felt gasket seal. To open it, carefully use a knife to unseal and cut off the felt gasket that trims the lid opening. Replace the high-heat felt gasket before further use.

What does it mean if the finish is chipped on my Pit Boss PBK22 Grill?
    • M
      Matthew BarkerSep 3, 2025
Chipping of the finish on the ceramic of your Pit Boss Grill does not affect its performance or lifespan. If the chipping is substantial, contact Customer Service.

    Marissa SmithSep 7, 2025
What causes a spider-web pattern of cracking on Pit Boss PBK22?
    • P
      Paula BaileySep 7, 2025
The spider-web pattern of cracking, known as crazing, is caused by different expansion rates between the glaze finish and the clay. Crazing does not affect the performance or lifespan of your ceramic charcoal barbecue; therefore, it is not a warranty issue.

    Susan LewisSep 10, 2025
Why won't my Pit Boss Grill maintain a stable temperature?
    • T
      Thomas OconnorSep 12, 2025
An unstable temperature in your Pit Boss Grill can be caused by insufficient airflow through the ceramic body. Check the bottom damper vent for ash buildup or obstructions. Also, inspect the top damper vent to ensure it's working correctly and not blocked. After these checks, light the grill and perform a burn-off.
