Polaris Vac-Sweep 280 Limited Warranty

Polaris 280 Complete Cleaner Components

Quick Installation Instructions

Install the Universal Wall Fitting

Install the Universal Wall Fitting on dedicated cleaner return lines with a threaded 1-1/2” female pipe fitting.

Adjust Feed Hose to Fit Pool Length

Measure deepest pool part and cut leader hose to match its greatest depth for proper feed hose adjustment.

Cleaner Assembly and RPM Check

Assemble the Cleaner

Attach feed hose to feed pipe, connect bag collar, and position head float for cleaner assembly.

Check for Proper Wheel RPM

Ensure proper wheel RPM (28-32) for maximum cleaner efficiency. Check wheel revolutions for 1 minute.

Fine Tuning the Polaris Cleaner

Thrust Jet Adjustment

The thrust jet directs the cleaner's movement; factory setting is straight back, but adjustable for pool conditions.

Sweep Hose Adjustment

Adjust sweep hose motion by turning the adjustment screw to increase or decrease its sweeping action.

Routine Maintenance

Clean the Filter Bag

Remove and empty the filter bag by releasing the collar and opening the closure to dump debris.

In-Line Filter Maintenance

Clean the in-line filter screen by pulling it out, rinsing it thoroughly, and pressing it back into place.

Storage and Winterizing

Never store the Polaris in direct sunlight. Drain water for winter storage to prevent freeze damage.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Hangs Up on Obstacles

Check wheel RPM, back-up valve cycling, thrust jet, and remove pool hardware or install a ladder guard.

Sluggish or Low Power

Check filter screen, baskets, hoses for leaks, and wheel RPM. Clean debris to restore water pressure.

Flies Around Pool or Lacks Bottom Contact

Check RPM, restrictor disk, and back-up valve cycling. Adjust pressure relief valve or restrictor disk.

Does Not Back Up

Verify back-up valve cycling, check wheel RPM, empty full bag, replace waterlogged head float, ensure feed hose floats.

Turns Only in One Direction

Adjust the thrust jet and ensure the feed hose is floating freely to correct directional turning issues.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Feed Hose Becomes Tangled

Verify hose length, check swivels and connections for free movement, and ensure the feed hose floats.

Sweep Hose Sucked into Vacuum Tube

Ensure sweep hose opening is not blocked and adjust sweep hose motion to a gentle sweeping motion.

Sweep Hose Sprays Too Much Water

Adjust sweep hose speed, replace worn scrubber, or add a sweep hose weight to prevent spraying.

Cleaner Does Not Clean Entire Pool

Check hose length, thrust jet position, and vacuum jets for obstructions. Contact service if jets are uneven.

Cleaner Runs in Circles on Its Side

Check for a full filter bag, waterlogged head float, or unevenly spaced hose floats.
