Engine Oil
Oil Recommendations
Polaris recommends the use of Polaris PS-4 PLUS Performance Syn-
thetic 2W-50 4-cycle oil or a similar oil for this engine. Oil may need to
be changed more frequently if Polaris oil is not used. Always use 2W-50
oil. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for ambient tempera-
ture operation. See page 123 for the part numbers of Polaris products.
NOTICE: Mixing brands or using a non-recommended oil may cause serious
engine damage. Always use the recommended oil. Never substitute
or mix oil brands.
Oil Level
A rising oil level between checks in
cool weather driving can indicate
contaminants such as gas or mois-
ture collecting in the crankcase. If
the oil level is over the full/safe
mark, change the oil immediately.
1. Position the vehicle on a level
surface.
2. Access the oil dipstick and fill
tube from the left side of the
ATV.
3. Start the engine. Allow it to idle
for 20-30 seconds. Stop the
engine.
4. Remove the dipstick. Wipe it
dry with a clean cloth.
5. Reinstall the dipstick com-
pletely.
6. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. Maintain the oil level
in the safe range. Do not overfill.
