Overview

The document describes the Poly Savi 7310/7320 Office, a wireless DECT headset system designed for use with both computers and desk phones. This system offers a comprehensive solution for communication in office environments, providing flexibility and enhanced security features.

Function Description

The Poly Savi 7310/7320 Office system primarily functions as a wireless communication device, enabling users to make, answer, and end calls from their computer (softphone) or desk phone. The system consists of a headset and a base unit. The headset provides audio input (microphone) and output (speaker) for calls, while the base unit acts as a central hub, connecting to both the computer via USB and the desk phone via a telephone interface cable. It also serves as the charging cradle for the headset and manages the DECT wireless connection.

A key feature of this system is its DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology, which ensures secure and reliable wireless communication. The system incorporates DECT Enhanced Security, adhering to recommendations from the DECT Forum and ETSI, covering registration, authentication, authorization, and encryption procedures. This makes the system secure against known vulnerabilities, providing peace of mind for users in sensitive communication environments.

The base unit is equipped with dedicated buttons for computer and desk phone audio lines, allowing users to easily switch between communication sources. For Microsoft Teams models, there's also a dedicated Teams button on the base and the headset for quick interaction with the Teams application and viewing notifications.

The system supports conference calls, allowing up to three additional Savi headsets to join a call in progress, either automatically by docking a guest headset or manually. This feature is particularly useful for small group discussions or training sessions.

Usage Features

The Poly Savi 7310/7320 Office is designed for ease of use and adaptability to various office setups.

Headset Usage:

  • Wearing: The headset can be worn on either the right or left side, with the microphone boom rotating to accommodate preference. The boom is flexible, allowing users to position the microphone optimally for clear voice capture.
  • Power On/Off: A simple slide switch on the headset controls its power.
  • Volume Control: The headset features intuitive volume up (+) and down (-) buttons for fine-tuning listening levels during calls.
  • Call Control: A dedicated call button on the headset allows users to answer, end, and hold calls. For Microsoft Teams models, this button also serves as the Teams interaction button.
  • Mute Function: A mute button on the headset enables users to quickly mute or unmute their microphone during active calls.
  • Audio Quality Optimization: Users can optimize audio quality for different activities (wideband stereo, wideband conversation, or multimedia) by pressing the headset mute button for 4 seconds to cycle through modes. This setting can also be configured via Poly Lens App.
  • Online Indicator: The headset LED flashes green when on a call, indicating to others that the user is busy. It turns solid red when muted.
  • Out-of-Range Warning: The headset provides audio tones to alert users when they are moving out of the operating range of the base, helping to prevent dropped calls. Calls are suspended if the user remains out of range and re-established upon returning.

Base Unit Usage:

  • Line Selection: The base unit has distinct buttons for computer audio and desk phone audio, making it easy to select the desired communication line.
  • Desk Phone Volume Adjustment: The base unit includes controls for adjusting both the listening and speaking volumes for desk phone calls, ensuring optimal audio levels for both the user and the caller.
  • Desk Phone Configuration Switch: A switch on the bottom of the base allows users to select the appropriate configuration (A, B, C, or D) for their specific desk phone model, ensuring compatibility.
  • Subscription: The headset and base are pre-subscribed. However, new headsets can be subscribed automatically by docking them or manually through a simple button sequence on the base and headset.
  • Microsoft Teams Integration (Teams models): The dedicated Teams button on the base allows for quick interaction with Microsoft Teams and viewing notifications. The LED on this button pulses when there are new Teams notifications.
  • Media Streaming: Users can stream media from their computer by pressing the computer audio button on the base and then playing the media.

Connectivity and Setup:

The system offers flexible connectivity options for desk phones, including direct connection to a dedicated headset port, connection via the handset port (standard setup), or enhanced call control with an Electronic Hookswitch (EHS) cable or HL10 lifter (sold separately). These accessories enable remote call control directly from the headset, eliminating the need to manually lift the desk phone handset.

Maintenance Features

  • Charging: The headset charges by simply placing it in the charging cradle on the base unit. The charging LED on the base indicates the charging status, flashing during charging and remaining steady when fully charged. It is recommended to charge for at least 20 minutes before first use.
  • Battery: The headset features a replaceable battery. For optimal performance and to ensure high quality standards, only replacement batteries provided by Plantronics should be used.
  • Firmware Updates: The system's firmware can be updated using the Poly Lens App on a computer. Regular firmware updates are crucial for improving performance, adding new features, and ensuring compatibility. During updates, it's important not to use the device, disconnect it from paired devices, avoid starting a second update, refrain from streaming media, and not answer or place calls.
  • Software Management: The Poly Lens App (or Plantronics Hub App) allows users to customize device behavior through advanced settings and options. This software is also necessary for enabling device call control (answer/end and mute) functionality with some softphones.
  • Troubleshooting: The user guide provides extensive troubleshooting tips for common issues such as no dial tone, static, distorted sound, echo, headset feeling too tight, handset lifter not working, and softphone application problems. These tips cover checks for charging, subscription, configuration settings, cable connections, volume adjustments, and software installation. For instance, if experiencing static or distortion, users are advised to ensure adequate distance between the base, computer, and telephone.
