The signal level display helps you to optimize the focus of the laser beam.
The signal level is shown as a 20-part bar on the display of the controller
(refer to section 5.9).

The signal level is also shown on the back of the sensor head as a 10-part bar
display.

There are different ways to focus the laser beam of the sensor head OFV-303:
manually with the focusing ring
remotely via the display of the controller
remotely with a PC via the interfaces RS-232 or IEEE-488/GPIB
remotely with the hand terminal OFV-310 (optional)
You can switch between manual focusing and remote focusing with the knob
AUTO/MAN on the front of the sensor head.

To switch to manual focusing, you proceed as follows:
1. Pull the knob AUTO/MAN out until it clicks into place.
2. Then turn the focusing ring until the adjustment mechanism clicks into
place.
3. You can now focus the laser beam manually by turning the focusing ring.
4. When you are looking onto the front panel of the sensor head

Never look directly into the laser beam with the naked eye or with the aid of mirrors or
optical instruments!
to focus on infinity: turn clockwise (to the right)
to focus close-up: turn anti-clockwise (to the left)
