It can be installed for both submersible and external operation, offering flexibility in different setups.

Function Description:

The primary function of the PondMAX EVOII pump is to circulate water for skimmers and water features. It is a magnetically driven pump, meaning it relies on water for cooling and lubrication, eliminating the need for harmful oil or grease. The pump is designed for continuous operation (24/7). Its open vane impeller design allows it to handle large particles and resist clogging, making it suitable for environments where debris might be present.

Usage Features:

SMART MAG™ Motor Protection: This advanced feature provides longevity by preventing motor burnout. It analyzes the speed and torque of the motor, offering a soft start on startup to avoid sudden jolting. The intelligent system adjusts motor speed to maximize water flow under given circumstances. If the impeller jams or stops, the circuitry automatically cuts power for 3 seconds and then powers up again. This cycle repeats three times. If the rotor remains jammed, it enters a prolonged low state until the pump is turned off for maintenance, minimizing motor burnout due to electrical heat from lack of water flow.
Energy Efficient: The pump boasts exceptionally low power consumption while providing high-head height and high-volume flow conversion.

Submersible Use: When used in a pond skimmer or water feature, it's recommended to use the provided hosetail fittings. The pump must be completely submerged, with a maximum depth of 6.5 feet.
External Use: For external applications, the pump requires adequate flooded suction (installed outside the pond, below the water surface). The front filter screen must be removed to expose the threaded inlet. Coupling fittings are provided for both inlet and outlet. A suction screen or leaf strainer is recommended for the suction line to prevent large debris from harming the pump.
Water Cooling: All PondMAX Skimmer & Water Feature Pumps are water-cooled. Restricted or blocked flow can lead to overheating and permanent damage.

Maintenance Features:

Regular Cleaning: The pump should be cleaned regularly (at least once a month) to ensure strong water flow and prevent motor burnout.
Impeller Maintenance: The pump has a single moving part, the impeller, which allows for easy cleaning and maintenance. Regular inspection and cleaning of the impeller are crucial for longer life. The small hole through the ceramic shaft in the center of the impeller, which serves as a cooling channel, must be kept unblocked.
Disassembly for Cleaning:
1. Twist the front filter screen counterclockwise and pull it away from the pump motor body.
2. Locate and unclip the base plate from under the pump motor body.
3. Remove the base plate.
4. Turn the impeller cover housing counterclockwise to its stop position and separate it from the pump motor body.
5. Grip the pump motor body with one hand and the impeller fins with the other, then pull out the impeller assembly (being careful not to break the ceramic shaft).
6. Clean the impeller with water, vinegar, and a suitable brush, removing any fine sediment from the back end of the impeller, the small hole through the ceramic shaft, and the impeller chamber. Inspect the impeller for wear and replace if necessary.
7. Ensure the O-ring is correctly replaced when reinstalling the impeller.
Reassembly: Reassemble the pump in reverse order after cleaning and inspection. Ensure the impeller O-ring is correctly positioned in its groove. Carefully place the impeller cover housing and rotate it clockwise. Reattach the front filter screen by rotating it clockwise and then re-attach the base plate to lock the impeller cover.
Spare Parts: Individual spare parts such as the front filter screen, impeller cover housing, impeller assembly, impeller O-ring, base plate, coupling fittings, swivel ball joint fitting, washers, barbed hosetail, and SCH. 40 adapter are available for replacement. A complete kit containing various fittings and washers is also available.

Important Safeguards:

The pump should only be used by persons 16 years or older who are familiar with the instructions.
Disconnect power before any maintenance.
Never pull the cable to disconnect the plug.
Ensure the equipment is completely submerged when used underwater (max depth 6.5 ft).
Do not operate if damaged.
Plug into a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet.
Avoid contact with wet hands when plugging in.
Use a drip loop to prevent water from traveling down the cable to the plug.
Do not install or store in extreme temperatures (above 95°C).
