SERVICE
OPERATIONS
The
brake system should be checked visually each
time the car is lubricated. When the car is raised
on a lift for inspection, brake lines,
hoses,
and ca-
bles
should be inspected for signs of chafing, deteri-
oration, or other damage. A careful check for leaks
should be made. Repairs as necessary should be
performed as outlined in this section.
Each
time the car is serviced for any reason there
is an opportunity and obligation to check the opera-
tion of the brake system. If the brake pedal can be
depressed to within
less
than 2 in. of floor mat when
brakes
are applied, or if pulls, grabs, or other ir-
regularities are noted, a need for brake service ex-
ists. No car should leave the Service Department
with brakes that are not safe
e
Corrections should be
made as outlined in this section.
