Notes on Minor Repairs
As a rule , we recommend that you have all the
n ec e ssa ry work on your Porsche carr i ed out by
an Offi c ial Porsche Centre. Training and experi-
e nce of the workshop staff , technical information
supplied by the manufacturer and special tools
and equipment constitute a good basis for the
fault-free care of your Porsche . However, if you
work on your Porsche yourself, you must exer-
cise the greatest care . Only in this way is oper-
ational reliability fully guaranteed.
Incorrect maintenance during the guarantee peri-
od may invalidate your guarantee.
Work on your Porsche only in the open air or in
well ventilated rooms.
Never smoke near or bring a naked flame into
proximity with the battery or fuel system.
Before working on any part in the engine com-
partment, switch the engine off and let it cool
down sufficiently. Be careful when working near
parts of the engine which are hot - they may
cause burns.
Caution! Depending on coolant temperature, the
thermostatically controlled radiator fan may start
up automatically, even when the engine is
switched off - danger of injury.

by the fan, V-belt or other moving pa rts.
If work has to be done with the engine running,
always apply the handbrake and move the gear
lever to the neutral position or the selector lever
to . position "P".
Your Porsche is equipped with an electronic igni-
tion system . When the ignition is on, all the ca-
bles and leads of the ignition system and the
tachometer carry high tension; for this reason,
extreme caution must be exercised .
Always place your Porsche on strong supports if
you have to work beneath the car. The car jack
is not suitable for this purpose.
Warning Triangle, First Aid Kit
Wa rnin g triangle and first aid kit should be kept
in th e late ral storage space of the luggage com -
partm e nt.
Tool Kit, Car Jack
The tool kit is s tored in the storage space of the
luggage comp a rtment and contains all the tools
needed for minor ro ads ide repairs etc .
The jack is behind th e s pare wheel.
Some countries require additional tools and re-
placement parts to be carried in the vehicle.
Please enquire before driving abroad.
The jack supplied with the vehicle should only
be used when changing the wheels. When
working under the vehicle, you should only
use purpose-built stands, for your own
safety .
