Communication or Software Error
Symptoms:
The batteries are fully charged.
All electrical components are properly connected.
The power turns on but displays a fault code other than previously discussed. See table 1, 2, or 3.
A communication or software fault is found under “Actual Faults” or “Fault History” in the diagnosis section of the
handheld programmer. See figures 13 and 14.
Diagnosis:
There is a module error in the system.
Solution:
Use the following procedure to find the source of the error:
1. Ensure that the BUS connections are correct. See diagram 5 or 6.
2. Measure resistance across connectors 3a and 3b of the BUS cable extension (3). See figure 19.
— If the multimeter indicates an open for any of the measurements, then replace the BUS cable extension (3) and retest
the system.
— If the multimeter indicates less than 1 ohm for all of the measurements, then go to the next step.
3. If the power chair is equipped with multiple input devices, then ensure there is a multiplier in the BUS line.
— If there is no multiplier, then contact Quantum Technical Service for further troubleshooting help.
— If there is a multiplier on the BUS line, then go to the next step.
4. Measure resistance on the multiplier BUS cable. See figure 20.
— If the multimeter indicates an open for any of the measurements, then replace the multiplier and retest the system.
— If the multimeter indicates less than 1 ohm for all of the measurements, then contact Quantum Technical Service for
further troubleshooting help.
Open Motor Error
Symptoms:
The batteries are fully charged.
All electrical components are properly connected.
The power turns on but displays “Open Motor” (NE or NE+ controllers) or a motor error (Q-Logic controller). See
table 1, 2, or 3.
One or both motors will not operate.
Diagnosis:
There is a problem with the left motor (6), right motor (7), and/or the wiring between the motor(s) and the power module
(2).
Solution:
Use the following procedure to find the source of the error:
1. Remove the seat. Refer to the power base owner’s manual.
2. Remove the rear and center shrouds. See figure 3.
3. Unplug connector 6a from connector 8b. See diagram 5 or 6.
