The PRO-FORM EASY STRIDER (Model No. PFEL04813.2) is a home-use elliptical machine designed to provide an effective and enjoyable workout experience. It offers a range of features for cardiovascular exercise, fat burning, and muscle strengthening.
Function Description:
The PRO-FORM EASY STRIDER is an elliptical trainer that allows users to engage in a low-impact, full-body workout. It simulates walking or running without the high impact on joints, making it suitable for various fitness levels and individuals with joint sensitivities. The machine features moving handlebars (upper body arms) that engage the upper body, while the pedals provide a smooth, elliptical motion for the lower body. This coordinated movement helps to work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, including the legs, glutes, core, and arms.
The elliptical is equipped with a console that provides various workout programs and real-time feedback. Users can choose between manual mode, an 8-week weight-loss program, or several preset workouts. The resistance of the pedals can be adjusted to increase or decrease workout intensity. The console also includes a heart rate monitor to help users stay within their target heart rate zones for effective fat burning or aerobic exercise. Additionally, the console features a sound system, allowing users to connect an MP3 or CD player to listen to music or audio books during their workout. A built-in fan provides cooling during exercise.

- Pedal Motion: The pedals can turn in either direction, but the manual recommends turning them in the direction shown by the arrow for optimal use. The elliptical does not have a freewheel, meaning the pedals will continue to move until the flywheel stops, so users should reduce speed in a controlled manner.
- Console Operation:
- Turning On: Press any button or begin pedaling.
- Manual Mode: Automatically selected upon startup. Resistance can be adjusted using the Resistance increase/decrease buttons.
- Workout Programs:
- 8-Week Weight-Loss Program: Users select a week and day, then press "Commit" to start. The program automatically adjusts resistance.
- Preset Workouts: Users select a workout number. These also automatically adjust resistance.
- Display Modes: Press the "Display Mode" button to cycle through calories, distance, speed, time, and pulse. A "SCAN" mode cycles through these automatically.
- Volume Control: Adjust audio volume using the volume increase/decrease buttons.
- Fan Control: Use fan increase/decrease buttons to select speed or turn off.
- Heart Rate Monitor: Hold handgrips with clean palms for at least 15 seconds for an accurate reading. Avoid excessive movement or tight gripping.
- Moving the Elliptical: Requires two persons. Hold the upright, place one foot against a wheel, pull on the upright, and have a second person lift the track to roll the elliptical.
- Leveling: Adjust the leveling feet beneath the rear of the frame to eliminate rocking during use.
Maintenance Features:
- Regular Inspection: Inspect and tighten all parts regularly. Replace worn parts immediately.
- Cleaning: Use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean the elliptical. Avoid liquids near the console and keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent damage.
- Battery Replacement: If the console displays problems, check the batteries (four D batteries). Refer to assembly step 12 for instructions. Allow the console to warm to room temperature before inserting batteries if exposed to cold.
- Greasing Rollers: If rollers squeak on the track, apply a small amount of PTFE grease (included) to a paper towel and spread a thin layer evenly along the track where the rollers move. Wipe off excess grease.
- Reed Switch Adjustment: If the console does not display correct feedback, the reed switch may need adjustment. Carefully pry off the accessory tray, locate the reed switch and pulley magnet, loosen the M4 x 16mm screw, and slide the reed switch closer to or away from the magnet. Retighten the screw and test by rocking the pulley until correct feedback is displayed. Reattach the accessory tray.
- Drive Belt Adjustment: If pedals slip even at the highest resistance, the drive belt may need adjustment. This involves removing the accessory tray and shields, loosening an M6 x 20mm screw, tightening an M10 x 55mm screw to tension the belt, and then retightening the M6 screw. Reattach all removed parts.
- Ordering Replacement Parts: Refer to the front cover of the manual for contact information and be prepared to provide the model number, serial number, product name, key number, and description of the part.
- Warranty: The frame is warranted for five years, and parts and labor for ninety days from the date of purchase. Warranty is limited to the original purchaser and covers defects under normal use. Misuse, commercial use, or failure to follow instructions will void the warranty.
