2. Remove any dirt from around the spark plug area.

Unclip the spark plug lead and remove the spark plug with a spark
plug wrench. This will have a rubber pad inside the socket to
protect the spark plug’s ceramic coating.
4. Inspect the spark plug. Replace it if damaged, badly fouled, the
sealing washer is in poor condition or the electrode is worn.
5. Check the gap with a spark plug gauge. If
necessary, reset the gap (See Specifications).
6. Correct the gap by carefully bending the side
electrode. Check the gap after each adjustment.
7. Install the spark plug by hand, to avoid cross
threading, until the gasket is compressed. Tighten
an additional 1/2 to 1/3 turn more with a spark plug
wrench or to the recommended torque if listed in the
Specifications.
8. Reconnect the spark plug lead to the spark plug.
9. Reinstall the Spark Plug Cover.
SPARK ARRESTOR AND MUFFLER SCREEN
1. Access the muffler screen.
a. Remove the top panel.
b. Remove the outer panel on each
side.
c. Remove the inner panel on each
side.
d. Remove the muffler cap, muffler
screen and the spark arrestor.
2. Check the muffler screen and spark arrestor for carbon deposits.
Remove carbon deposits with a wire brush.
3. Check the muffler screen and spark arrestor for damage. Replace
damaged components with replacement parts designed for this
unit.
4. Align the spark arrestor insert with the muffler pipe's opening and
press into place.
5. Install the muffler screen and rear grille.
