Overview

The Pro'sKit MT-1707 is a 3-5/6 True-RMS Digital Multimeter, designed and manufactured in compliance with IEC-61010 safety requirements for electronic measuring instruments and hand-held digital multimeters. It adheres to CAT IV 600V, CAT. III 1000V, and pollution degree 2 standards, ensuring safe operation. This meter is a versatile, hand-held device featuring a large LCD screen with backlight and illumination light functions, making readings easily discernible even in low-light conditions. It also incorporates overload protection and a low battery indicator. The MT-1707 is suitable for a wide range of users, including professionals, factories, schools, enthusiasts, and households, serving as an ideal multi-functional meter.

Function Description

The MT-1707 offers a comprehensive set of measurement functions, including:

  • AC/DC Voltage Measurement: The meter provides DC voltage measuring ranges from 600.0mV to 1000V and AC voltage measuring ranges from 6.000V to 750V. It measures True RMS for AC voltage, providing accurate readings for sine waves and other waveforms (without DC offset), square waves, triangular waves, and step waves.
  • Frequency Measurement: Frequency can be measured at the dedicated Hz% position or within the ACV position for frequencies less than 1KHz.
  • Electric Resistance Measurement: The meter measures electric resistance across a wide range, from 600.0Ω to 600.0MΩ.
  • Diode Test: This function allows for testing diodes outside of a circuit, displaying the forward bias value.
  • Beep Continuity Test: The meter performs a continuity test, sounding a continuous beep and illuminating an LED if the measured resistance is no more than 30Ω.
  • Capacitance Measurement: Capacitance can be measured from 1.000nF to 60mF.
  • Current Measurement (AC/DC): The meter offers DC current measuring ranges from 600.0uA to 10.00A and AC current measuring ranges from 60.00mA to 10.00A.
  • NCV Test (Non-Contact Voltage Detection): By turning the rotary switch to the NCV position and placing the top of the meter near a conductor, the device can detect AC voltage. Signal density indicators (high, medium, low) will illuminate, and the beeper will sound alarms at varying frequencies based on the detected density.
  • Temperature Measurement: The meter can measure temperature using a K-type thermocouple, displaying readings in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Usage Features

The MT-1707 is designed with several features to enhance usability and safety:

  • Hold Mode: This function allows the user to freeze the current reading on the display. It can be activated and deactivated by pressing the "Hold" key.
  • Backlight and LED Light: The meter's LCD screen is equipped with a backlight, and there's an additional LED light, both of which can be turned on or off. The backlight automatically disables after 15 minutes if not manually turned off.
  • Auto Power Off: To conserve battery life, the meter automatically powers off after 15 seconds of inactivity, preceded by an audible reminder. It can be rebooted by pressing the "Hold" or backlight key.
  • Input Sockets: The meter features clearly labeled input sockets: COM for the black test lead, VΩHz for positive input in voltage, resistance, frequency, duty ratio, capacitance, diode, and continuity measurements, and μA mA and 10A for current measurements.
  • Rotary Switch: A rotary switch allows for easy selection of different measurement functions and ranges.
  • Select Key: The "Select" key enables switching between different modes within a function, such as °C or °F in temperature measurement, or voltage/frequency mode in AC voltage measurement.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes critical safety guidelines, such as ensuring test leads are flawless, avoiding operation near strong electromagnetic interference, not using the meter if its appearance is damaged, and exercising caution around exposed conductors. It also provides warnings against exceeding voltage limits, touching input terminals not in service, and performing resistance, diode, capacitance, or continuity tests on live circuits.
  • True RMS: The True RMS feature ensures accurate AC measurements for various waveform types, not just pure sine waves.
  • Low Battery Indicator: A dedicated symbol appears on the display when the battery voltage is low, prompting replacement to avoid incorrect readings and potential electric shock.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the MT-1707:

  • General Cleaning: The meter's shell should be regularly cleaned with a damp cloth and a small amount of detergent. Abrasive or chemical solvents should be avoided. Input sockets should be cleaned with a cotton ball and detergent or lubricant to prevent pollution from dampness.
  • Battery Replacement: The meter uses one 9V 6F22 battery. The battery should be replaced promptly when the low battery indicator appears. To do this, the meter must be turned off, all test leads disconnected, and the battery cover removed using a screwdriver.
  • Fuse Replacement: The meter is protected by fuses (F500mA/250V for μA/mA ranges and F10A/250V for the 10A range). If a fuse blows, it must be replaced with the same type. The process involves turning off the meter, removing the holster, unscrewing and removing the back cover, replacing the blown fuse, and then reassembling the meter.
  • Professional Maintenance: Calibration, repair, and maintenance should only be performed by professionals.
  • Storage: For long periods of idleness, the battery should be removed, and the meter stored in a place free from high temperature and humidity.
  • Input Protection: The meter incorporates protective tubes for current measurements (F500mA/250V for μA/mA and F10A/250V for 10A) and can withstand maximum input voltages of 1000V DC or 750V AC for voltage measurements, and 600V AC for frequency, resistance, continuity, and diode tests.
