Overview

This document describes the Proline Digital MP794AF, an MP3/Video Player.

Function Description:

The MP794AF is a portable multimedia player capable of playing MP3 and video files. It also supports photo viewing, e-book reading, voice recording, and FM radio. The device features a built-in rechargeable Li-polymer battery, a 1.8" TFT color display, and a USB 2.0 high-speed port for connection to a PC.

Memory Capacity Note: Due to different memory calculation methods and the storage of the player software in the device flash memory, the real flash memory capacity is lower than the marked memory capacity.

Usage Features:

Basic Operations:

The device has several buttons:

  1. Play / II button
  2. V+ button
  3. V- button
  4. Previous (◄) button
  5. Next (►) button
  6. Power (☌/■) button
  7. FUNC button
  8. RESET
  9. Microphone
  10. Earphones jack
  11. USB port

Power On/Off:

  • Press the Power button (☌/■) for about 2 seconds to turn on the player when it's off.
  • Press the Power button (☌/■) for about 2 seconds to turn off the player when it's on.

Reset:

  • Use a sharp point to press the RESET button; the player will shut off.
  • Use ◄ or ► buttons to select an option.
  • Press the PLAY (►/II) button to confirm the selection.
  • Use V+ or V- buttons to select an option.
  • Press the ◄ button to go back to the parent menu.
  • Press the ► button to enter the submenu and confirm a selection.
  • Press and hold the PLAY (►/II) button to return to the Main menu.

Music / Voice Mode Operations:

  • Playback: Press PLAY (►/II) to pause/resume. Press and hold PLAY (►/II) to stop and return to Main menu.
  • Volume: Use V+/V- buttons to adjust volume. Press and hold for quick adjustment.
  • Track Navigation: Use ◄ or ► buttons to skip tracks. Press and hold for rapid fast-forward/rewind.
  • Submenu (FUNC button):
    • Repeat Mode: No Repeat, Repeat One, Repeat All, Random All, F_Normal (Play all once in current folder), F_Repeat (Repeat all in current folder), F_Random (Play all randomly in current folder).
    • Equalizer (EQ): Normal, Pop, Rock, Classic, Jazz, Bass, Custom EQ.
    • 3D Effect: Off, On.
    • Play Rate: 1.00X, 1.14X, 1.33X, 0.67X, 0.80X.
    • File: Browse files stored in the player.

Lyrics Display Function:

The player supports lyrics files in LRC format.

  1. Choose an MP3 file (e.g., "lovemusic.mp3").
  2. Download an LRC file from the internet (e.g., "lovemusic-2007.lrc").
  3. Rename the LRC file to match the MP3 filename (e.g., "lovemusic.lrc").
  4. Copy both files into the same folder on the player.
  5. Start playback; lyrics will display synchronously.

FM Mode Operations:

  • Mode Change: Press PLAY (►/II) to switch between Preset and Manual mode. Press and hold PLAY (►/II) to exit FM mode and return to Main menu.
  • Volume: Use V+/V- buttons to adjust volume. Press and hold for quick adjustment.
  • Station Selection/Frequency Adjustment: Use ◄ or ► buttons to choose saved stations (Preset mode) or adjust frequency (Manual mode). Press and hold for quick station selection (Preset mode) or auto scan (Manual mode).
  • FM Antenna: Earphones must be connected to receive FM radio.
  • Submenu (FUNC button):
    • Saving: Save FM preset stations.
    • Delete: Delete saved FM preset stations.
    • Auto scan: Automatically scan FM stations.
    • Band: US band (87.5MHz~108MHz, 75us de-emphasis), Europe band (87.5MHz~108MHz, 50us de-emphasis), Japan band (76~90MHz, 50us de-emphasis).
  • FM Recording: Press Power (☌/■) to start recording. Press Power (☌/■) again to stop.

Movie Mode Operations:

  • Playback: Select a video with V+/V- and press PLAY (►/II) to start. Press PLAY (►/II) again to pause/resume. Press and hold PLAY (►/II) to stop and return to Main menu.
  • Volume: Use V+/V- buttons to adjust volume. Press and hold for quick adjustment.
  • Video Navigation: Use ◄ or ► buttons to skip videos. Press and hold for rapid fast-forward/rewind.
  • Exit: Press Power (☌/■) to stop the movie and enter the submenu.

Converting Video to MTV Format:

  1. Select MTV Video Converter and double click to enter the folder.
  2. Double click VideoConvert.exe in the selected folder.
  3. Click "Input Video" to select files. The player's screen resolution is 128x160 pixels; set the size equal to or less than 128x160 pixels. Higher quality produces larger file size.
  4. Click "Start Conversion" to begin. Click "Cancel Conversion" to stop.
  5. When "End of Conversion" appears, close the window and upload the converted MTV movie to the player.

Photo Mode Operations:

  • Viewing: Select a photo with V+/V- and press PLAY (►/II) to view.
  • Exit: Press and hold PLAY (►/II) to return to Main menu.
  • Navigation: Use V+/V- buttons to skip to previous/next photo.
  • Previous Menu: Press ◄ or Power (☌/■) to return to the previous menu.
  • Browse Folder: Press ► to browse the folder.
  • Submenu (FUNC button): Slide show and manual scan. For slide show, photos play in sequence. For manual scan, use V+/V- to view photos one by one.

E-Book Mode Operations:

  • Line Navigation: Use V+/V- buttons to turn over the e-book by row.
  • Page Navigation: Use ◄ or ► buttons to turn over the e-book by page.
  • Exit: Press and hold PLAY (►/II) to return to Main menu.

Delete Mode Operations:

  • Select File: Use V+/V- buttons to select the file to delete.
  • Confirmation: Press FUNC to display the confirmation menu.
  • Choose Option: Use V+/V- buttons to choose "Yes" or "No".
  • Return to Submenu: Press ◄ to return.
  • Confirm Deletion: Press ► to confirm.
  • Exit: Press and hold PLAY (►/II) to return to Main menu.

Voice Record / FM Record Mode Operations:

  • Start Recording: Press Power (☌/■).
  • Stop Recording: Press Power (☌/■) again.
  • Playback: Press PLAY (►/II) to start, pause, or resume playback of recorded files.

Player Setup (Settings Menu):

The Settings menu has seven options: Time, Power, Language, Display, Record, Sys Tools, and Hold Time.

  • Time:

    • Adjust (time and date): Press ► to enter. Use V+/V- to adjust. Use ◄ or ► to skip parameters. Press PLAY (►/II) to confirm and return.
    • Time Zone: Press ► to enter. Use V+/V- to adjust. Press and hold PLAY (►/II) to confirm and return.
  • Power (Power Saving Mode):

    • Auto off options: 15, 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes, and Close.
      • 15 sec: Player shuts off after 15 min of inactivity.
      • 30 sec: Player shuts off after 30 min of inactivity.
      • 60 sec: Player shuts off after 60 min of inactivity.
      • 90 sec: Player shuts off after 90 min of inactivity.
      • 120 sec: Player shuts off after 120 min of inactivity.
      • Close: Player never shuts off automatically.
    • Always on options: No, Yes.
  • Language: Seven options: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch.

  • Display (Backlight):

    • Backlight options: 15, 30 seconds, 1 minute, and Always On.
      • 15 sec: Backlight on for 15 seconds.
      • 30 sec: Backlight on for 30 seconds.
      • 1 min: Backlight on for 1 minute.
      • Close: Backlight never shuts off (always on).
    • Use V+/V- to adjust. Press ► to confirm, ◄ to leave.
  • Record (Recording Quality):

    • Options: High Quality, Normal Quality, Long Time.
      • High Quality: Occupies much memory, best recorded quality.
      • Normal Quality: Occupies less memory, good recorded quality.
      • Long Time: Occupies the least memory, normal recorded quality.
    • Use V+/V- to select. Press ► to confirm, ◄ to leave.
  • Sys Tools:

    • Options: Delete, Format, Reset, Sys Info, Delete Lic.
    • Use V+/V- to adjust. Press ► to confirm, ◄ to leave.
    • Delete: Delete selected single file (refer to Delete Mode section).
    • Format: Delete all files and format flash memory.
    • Reset: Load default settings.
    • Sys Info: Check capacity and software version.
    • Delete Lic: Delete all stored license files.
  • Hold Time (Key Lock):

    • Options: 10 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 5 min, and Off.
      • 10 sec: Player locked after 10 seconds of idling.
      • 30 sec: Player locked after 30 seconds of idling.
      • 1 min: Player locked after 1 minute of idling.
      • 5 min: Player locked after 5 minutes of idling.
      • Off: Player will not be locked.
    • Use V+/V- to adjust. Press ► to confirm, ◄ to leave.

Maintenance Features:

Firmware Upgrade Operation:

  1. Search for "Factoryr.exe" in the software package and double click "Factory4.exe" to open the window.
  2. Press and hold the volume up button while connecting the USB cable to the player. A yellow circle will appear in the window.
  3. Click "Firmware Feature" to start the upgrade process. A progress bar will appear.
  4. When complete, the yellow circle will change to a green "tick".

Troubleshooting:

If the player doesn't display a picture, isn't recognized as a storage disk, or won't power on after charging:

  1. Install the firmware from the CD-ROM.
  2. Press and hold the V- button, then plug in the USB cable.
  3. Start the software installation from the Windows Start menu (step 1) to begin the upgrade, then release V-.
  4. The upgrade may format the player; back up files if possible.
  5. If the upgrade program doesn't detect the player, unplug the USB cable and repeat steps 2 and 3 until detected.

Warnings:

  • Low Battery: "Low battery" will display; charge the player.
  • No File: "No File" will display if no corresponding file is present.
  • Key Lock: If activated (set in Hold Time), buttons will not respond. Press and hold PLAY (►/II) for about 2 seconds to unlock.
  • Device Full: "Device full" will display when memory is full.
  • WEEE Directive & Warning: Dispose of electrical/electronic products responsibly. Recycle batteries and packaging.
  • Hearing Warning: Listening at high volume for extended periods may damage hearing.
