Optimizing Gain Setting
Your Sentry 1510 has been shipped with a factory set gain of 4. This gain should
provide good pressure control for most installations. However, it may sometimes
become necessary to optimize this setting due to installation dependent variables such
as exhaust line diameters, distance from the process tube and available house exhaust.
The following procedure should be performed with the furnace at a temperature of 950°
C or greater.
1. Seal furnace and introduce a flow of 10 slm N2.
2. Set the supervisor Gain to 10 and give and observe the pressure graph.
3. Change the N2 flow to .5 slm.
4. Observe the supervisor display, the pressure control should be ± 1 mm.
5. If the control is not within the limits stated in step 4 than reduce the gain until a flat
line is observed on the supervisor display.
6. Introduce random N2 flow rates between .3 and 30 slm. The controller should
maintain ± 1 mm at all flow rates within this range.
7. The final gain setting should be between a value of 4-10. If control cannot be
obtained through this procedure contact:
