This document is a Set-up & Care Guide for the Pure Free e-Bike, which includes both Pure Free City and Pure Free Step models. It provides quick-start assembly instructions, a systems overview, care guidelines, and technical and warranty information.
Function Description:
The Pure Free e-Bike is a road-going electric bicycle designed for everyday cycle transport on paved roads and well-surfaced tracks or dedicated cycle paths. It is classified as a 250W / 25kph limited 'EPAC' (Electrically Power Assisted Cycle) according to EN15194:2017 testing definitions, conforming to EN15194:2017 and CE and UKCA declarations. The e-bike provides pedal assistance through a rear hub motor, making cycling easier, especially on inclines or for longer distances. It features a display unit on the handlebar for controlling power assist levels, lights, and monitoring battery status. A 'walk-assist' mode is also available for pushing the e-bike at 6km/h.

- Charging: Full charge takes 4.5 to 6 hours. The charger has indicator lights: Red for charging, Green for completed charging.
- Safety Checks (Pre-ride):
- Tyre pressure (40-75PSI).
- Wheels spin freely without obstructions.
- Brake function is good.
- Wheel axle bolts are tightened (10Nm front, 15Nm rear).
- Bolts securing seat post, bars, and stem are tight (5-6Nm for seat post, handlebar, and stem bolts).
Maintenance Features:
- Battery Care:
- Only use the supplied charger.
- Store in a cool, dry location.
- Maintain around 40% charge for long-term storage; fully charged is better than empty.
- Charge for 1 to 1.5 hours every 2 months when unused.
- Avoid high temperatures, direct sunlight, water immersion, salts, solvents, acids, or bases.
- Do not disassemble the battery.
- Avoid washing the battery all over with a hose; it's IPX2 rated, not designed for constant spray.
- Ensure the battery is locked in place before riding to prevent disconnection.
- Cleaning:
- Take care when cleaning; avoid washing the battery all over with a hose.
- Electrical components are water resistant for normal use, but jet washes can overpower seals.
- Avoid directing water inside the battery carrier, especially when on a car roof rack or during heavy rain.
- Drivetrain Maintenance:
- Clean and re-lubricate the chain periodically with bike chain lubricant.
- Use a degreaser, warm water, and a soft brush to remove debris from the chain, sprocket, and chainring.
- Avoid aggressive degreasers near pedal, chainset, or hub bearings.
- Lubricate with light oil or wax 'dry' lubricant, applying sparingly and wiping off excess.
- Brakes:
- Cable-operated rim brakes will need adjustment as pads wear. This should be done by a trained mechanic.
- Barrel adjusters on levers and callipers can be used for minor pad wear adjustments (turn anti-clockwise).
- Check rim sidewalls for wear indicator lines; worn lines mean the rim is no longer safe and needs replacement.
- Tyres:
- Maintain recommended tyre pressures (indicated on sidewalls) for comfort, battery range, control, and safety.
- Check tyres regularly for cuts or embedded objects to prevent punctures.
- Bearings (Wheel, Crank, Headset):
- Wheels/hubs and pedal cranks/chain set run on bearings requiring periodic maintenance.
- Looseness or side-to-side play indicates worn bearings, requiring service or replacement.
- Headset bearing should allow free steering. Knocking when rocking the bike with the front brake applied indicates looseness, requiring service.
- Warranty:
- Statutory warranty against non-conformity defects in material and workmanship.
- Seller's warranty: 2 years for electronics, suspension forks/units; 3 years for frames and rigid forks.
- Requires a free safety check at a Pure Electric store within 6 weeks of use to maintain validity.
- Warranty is voided by misuse, mishandling, not following instructions, disassembly, modification with non-licensed parts, or crash damage. Normal wear and tear is not covered.
