Wi-Fiperformancedegradesoverdistancesoproductsfartherawaywillreceivelessnetwork
bandwidth.ProductsinstalledclosetotheirmaximumWi-Firangemayexperienceslowconnection
speeds,signaldropoutsornotbeingabletoconnectatall.
Lineofsightandobstacles
ForbestresultstheWi-Fiproductshouldhaveaclear,directlineofsighttotheproductitwillbe
connectedto.AnyphysicalobstructionscandegradeorevenblocktheWi-Fisignal.
TheconstructionofyourvesselcanalsohaveanimpactonWi-Fiperformance.Forexample,metal
structuralbulkheadsandroofingwillreduceandincertainsituations,blocktheWi-Fisignal.
IftheWi-FisignalpassesthroughabulkheadcontainingpowercablesthiscanalsodegradeWi-Fi
performance.
Reflectivesurfacessuchasmetalsurfaces,sometypesofglassandevenmirrorscandrastically
effectperformanceorevenblocktheWi-Fisignal.
Interferenceandotherequipment
Wi-Fiproductsshouldbeinstalledatleast1m(3ft)awayfrom:
•otherWi-Fienabledproducts
•transmittingproductsthatsendwirelesssignalsinthesamefrequencyrange
•otherelectrical,electronicorelectromagneticequipmentthatmaygenerateinterference
InterferencefromotherpeoplesWi-Fiproductscanalsocauseinterferencewithyourproducts.Y ou
canuseaWi-FianalyzertooltoassessthebestWi-Fichannel(channelnotinuseorusedbyleast
amountofdevices)foryoutouse.
Pre-installationsitesurvey—Wi-FiAnalyzer
BeforeinstallingaQuantumRadar,thatwillbeconnectedusingWi-Fi,asitesurveyshouldbe
performedtoensuretheWi-FiSignalstrengthissufficienttomaintainareliableconnection.
ItisrecommendedthatyouperformthesitesurveyusingasmartdeviceandaWi-FiAnalyzerapp
(e.g.Wi-FiAnalyzerbyFarprocforandroiddevices).
